A Village's Destruction Empty A Village's Destruction

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Jun 13, 2013 12:51 pm

It seemed like any other day, really, that Kana, also known now as Jesse, was teaching at the academy. Not many kids were paying attention because it was Friday, and that was getting on her nerves. She'd even whacked a couple kids upside the head for talking while she was trying to instruct them. That got'em all to shut up. She'd probably hear from the parents later because of it, but oh well. In her opinion, they should've taught their children to be more respectful of their superiors. God she felt like such an old woman saying that. She was only twenty-five. Not old at all. She still had her whole life ahead of her. And she was determined to get back out on field missions. Though...when she thought about it, maybe whacking kids upside the head for not listening wasn't the best way to get back on Renji's good side. Didn't exactly count as good behavior. On the other hand, maybe if enough parents complained she'd not be allowed to teach again. She'd be fine with that. She was no good with kids anyways. She'd tried to tell Renji that, but neither him nor Raiken listened to her. They both insisted that those kids would turn out as great ninja under her instruction, even with her roughness around them. What a drag. They'd probably keep her at the academy until the day she died, those bastards.

Usually the sun was shining in the village, and it was today as well, which was why she had the kids outside doing drills. She was trying to teach them about chakra control, which was something they were actually supposed to learn a couple years from now when they got assigned to their squads. They should have only been learning it from books at their age, but Kana insisted that the earlier they learned, the easier it would be later on, and the quicker they could progress. Kana found it strange, though. Well, it wasn't anything physical she felt strange, it was just...something was off about today. She couldn't quite tell what it was though. She paused in talking to one of the kids who she'd been helping specifically and told him to go try again, then told the rest of the class she'd be back in a few minutes. Going out the gate of the training grounds, she headed towards the gates at a quick pace. Something was seriously wrong. But when she asked, they said everything was fine, and nothing had happened all day. She returned to the Academy with a feeling of dread. What was going on? What was this feeling that had not only her heart, but her chakra racing as well?

A Village's Destruction Empty Re: A Village's Destruction

Batsu was hungry, starving in fact. The need for souls was making the colorless soul even more edgy than usual. His canines bared he moved towards the Sunshine. He smelled the faint scent of a familiar soul there. The one that had belonged to the one with the silver soul. Batsu licked his lips as he black wings rattled in excitement behind him. He moved at a quicker pace until he was able to take flight. When he was directly above the village he set the barrier, trapping everthing inside. A grin cross his face as he descended to the ground. There he watched as the villagers began to panic. Batsu snatched the closest human off his feet and ripped his heart right out. He immediately bit into it and grinned with malice. The taste of the warm blood bumping into his mouth soothed him and heightened the need to kill. Red eyes glowing, the onslaught began.

Once Kana was back in the yard of the Academy, she all but ignored the students, continuously looking around. When a passing ninja saw her, they jokingly asked if she was expecting to be assassinated anytime soon. She only glared at them and they moved on. It wasn't long before she heard the sounds of villagers panicking, and she told the kids to get inside the Academy. After making sure the kids were actually listening to her, she took off without a moment's hesitation. Ninja from around the area had already started gathering when they'd heard the screaming, and had started attacking the winged creature, who had a man without a heart lying on the ground beneath it. There was a moment when Kana froze, and in that moment she felt her chakra spike. She wasn't sure why, but it almost felt like it spiked out of anticipation, but not her own. No, this thing was horrifying. She wasn't looking forward to fighting this, but something in her was. Her chakra wasn't visible, but she could feel it rushing through her. What use would a genjutsu be against something like this! Who cares, it's attacking our people! The brown haired ninja quickly pulled out a kunai with a bomb tag and threw it at the winged creature. She wasn't the only one who'd had this idea though. Several other ninja had thought it was smart to all aim at the same target, however, while Kana's kunai was flying, she'd started a jutsu. Similar to the shadow shuriken jutsu, Kana's kunai (bomb tag and all) multiplied and became about fifty kunai which scattered in a large area. That thing couldn't possibly avoid them all, and when one went off, they would all go off.

A Village's Destruction Empty Re: A Village's Destruction

Batsu finished off the heart and then stood up straight in time to see the myriad of kunai and bomb tags. The red eyed soul smirked and allowed his wings to fold over him, protecting him from the explosion that would have undoubtedly left him wounded and very much unhappy. The villagers were lucky he'd protected himself, but it only flared his temper. Before the smoke could clear he set the entire area ablaze. Unfolding his wings he attacked without warning, tearing out hearts and devouring pieces in a matter of moments before moving on to the next. His actions were smooth and inhuman. Batsu was a creature without a heart and almost without a soul. He felt no remorse, no pity, no regret. He lived to survive, that was his purpose.

Kana swore under her breath when the creature blocked the attack with its wings. Were those things impenetrable or what? Clearly they were, because the thing had come out of the explosions unscathed, and very much pissed off. The brown haired shinobi had heard about the thing destroying nearby villages, but had been naive enough to think it would never come here. She covered her face as fires started all around her. What was this thing??

Raiken and Renji had already been informed of an attack and were out and ready to strike back against the thing. Renji recognized it as the creature Felix's friend had described. This was bad. But he wasn't about to give up so easily. He'd protect this village! Him and his brother had made this place, and it was all they had, and there were innocent villagers here! Raiken was the first to strike against the winged creature, with a fire serpent that headed straight for it. Renji followed up by setting his hands and feet ablaze so he could run along the length of the serpent and towards the creature. Once he got close enough, he jumped at it, aiming a flaming punch at Batsu's chest.

Batsu had killed many shinobi who'd put up quite the fight and he would do the same here. The worthless ninja who's souls were treats for him. Batsu watched the serpent made of fire approach him. Things made of chakra had no souls, so there was no point in devouring such a thing. He decided to take flight. Batsu went straight up into the sky, carefully and strategically avoiding Renji's punch in the process. He was probably going to burn this village now before harvesting the souls and hearts at a slow pace so he could enjoy his meal and savour every morsel.

When Renji's punch missed, he was glad that his brother had forced the fire serpent underneath him rather than going after that creature. Once he was on a rooftop, he looked up at it. He'd come up with several strategies since Kymin gave him a description of this thing. Many of those strategies involved mainly genjutsu, since he'd figured this thing would be fast. "Jesse!" he called, looking down to Kana. He'd told her of this strategy as well, so she would know what to do.

Kana nodded when Renji called her, taking out a kunai with a tag on it, doing a jutsu with it in hand before throwing it towards the red eyed creature. When it got close enough, she pumped chakra into it, causing it to flash brightly. Most of the ninja who'd gone on missions with her knew this jutsu as Call of the Blackbird, and they knew to cover their eyes when they saw a tag like that attached. Kana could only hope that the flash had reached the creature's eyes. And hope that the thing wasn't immune to genjutsu.

Batsu looked down on at the people below him. They were like ants swarming beneath him. Puny and insignificant. How foolish of them to believe they stood any chance against him. Black wings folded and he started his descent down to the earth, pausing only when he was blinded by a white light. Batsu wasn't confused, just a bit alerted by this sudden light that could mean an array of unpleasant things. Although he rarely took souls before eating the hearts, he'd sincerely thought about doing just that with this village.

Kana was beyond relieved to know that this had worked, when she found the creature trapped within the blackbird's world. Blue grass and purple skies, hills littering the ground that were really deadly monsters, and giant blackbirds circling the sky that looked small from the ground. There was no sun in this world, but it was still light enough to see. The only problem was...now Kana was alone in her genjutsu with this creature. Out in the real world, Kana signaled to Renji, letting him know it had worked, and in that moment, him and his brother had started a jutsu in sync with one another.

Inside Blackbird's Nest, Kana made sure to step back as the smaller birds (which were all about the size of Batsu) swooped down to start attacking the creature. All of the birds except King. Kana was adamant that no mortal could take King down on his own, but this...this thing was no mortal and she didn't dare risk it.

A Village's Destruction Empty Re: A Village's Destruction

This place was different, almost like the Unknown, but different. Batsu gazed around unimpressed as always. However he smelled something familiar. Something evil yet pure all in the same form. Batsu was excited about this. He slowly started towards that scent. What drove him to move quickly was the scent of Onihana. The same from that day. He licked his lips, he could still taste Kymin's flesh on them. He wanted to kill that man, tear him apart piece by piece. But first he'd shred whoever this was with that same scent. Maybe a friend or a lover? Batsu didn't care.

Kana swallowed when she realized that this winged creature was brushing off her birds like they were nothing. When she realized that it was coming straight for her. Obviously she didn't have much reason to fear, because anything it did to her in here would only translate to bruises outside the jutsu, but that didn't make this thing any less horrifying. Stepping back, Kana continued to have her birds attack this winged creature in the hopes of deterring its attention from her, and threw shuriken with bomb tags attached at it.

Outside the jutsu, while Kana was concentrating on it, Renji and Raiken had finished their jutsu, dragons made of flames wrapping in a circle around Batsu until their bodies had formed a solid sphere of fire encircling the black winged creature.

Batsu was unaware of what was going on outside of the jutsu. Even if he did, he wasn't sure if he'd care too much. Right now this woman was his main priority. As the birds continued their onslaught, Batsu simply swatted them away like flies, until he lost patience and took one by the neck, burning right through it's feathers to the skin until it burst into flames. Tossing it aside he smiled at Kana. "I'll do the same to you," he told her as he started into a run.

Kana's eyes widened at the sight of what that thing did to her blackbird and she took a step back. Even if she was in control in this jutsu, it didn't change the fact that this creature was horrifying. "I don't think fire's going to work," she whispered, her brown eyes still widened. Kana tried to call to Renji and Raiken outside the jutsu, to tell them, but there was so much noise and panic in the village that she wasn't sure they'd hear. That panic was dying down though, when the villagers saw their Kage and his brother had the creature trapped in a ball of flames. Just as Batsu started towards the brown haired ninja, spears of flames shot towards the winged creature inside Renji and Raiken's ball of flames. Kana very nearly found herself frozen in place as the thing ran towards her, but somewhere in the back of her mind remembered training she'd been given a long time ago. Considering this was her world, and there wasn't much chance this thing could easily escape even if it knew, Kana had no problems tossing aside the rules and bringing up a rock wall right in front of the creature as her lizards with stone claws woke up and swarmed in towards Batsu.

Batsu wasn't really aware that he was in a genjutsu. He wasn't a ninja, for his soul was that of a samurai. The red eyed creature however never stopped in his charge. He'd barely made it to the wall when he suddenly found himself feeling excruciating pain, but he didn't recall being hit. Coming to a stop he didn't care for the lizards or Kana's rock wall, what he was concerned with was this burning feeling. Had something attacked him with fire? Batsu shook his head. Impossible, there was no fire here, but just in case something had. He'd fix them by showing them what fire really felt like. Batsu allowed himself to be consumed by fire. It was a matter of moments before he exploded, or rather the surrounding fire exploded, like a supernova.

When Renji and Raiken had made their move, Kana knew it. Not only because she could see it on the outside, but because inside the jutsu, the creature had stopped charging at her. She couldn't do much on the inside, except to keep it occupied while Renji and the other ninja took care of it on the outside. However, when the creature's counterattack happened, Kana had to let the jutsu drop, for her right leg and right arm both had gotten scorched in the explosion, which had also thrown her backwards and to the ground. Renji and Raiken, having been the closest to the ball of flames, got knocked off their respective buildings and very badly burnt. In that one hit, Raiken had been pushed to the very edge of death. The only reason the older ninja's brother survived was due to his fire-proof equipment for most of his techniques. Many civilians were killed by the blast, due to burns and/or collapsing buildings. Many buildings caught fire, and Kana had to force herself to her feet, even though she wouldn't be able to do much at the moment. Once more, panic returned to the village, and one brave medic was rushing over to Raiken. After seeing that, many of the villages ninja began to flee, while others were trying to usher villagers to safety. Not but three ninja, quite obviously of the same squad, tried attacking the winged monster with jutsu. One jutsu summoned storm clouds, while another brought water down in the form of missiles towards Batsu, and the last jutsu focused lightning bolts in Batsu's general direction.

Batsu blinked as the winged creatures disappeared and he was left in flight with the burned village around him. "It was fake...odd. These humans and their tricks." He scanned the area for survivers and found some had managed to live. "Your will to survive amuses me, but it's pointless. I'll give you a meaningful death for your effort." Then he saw the shinobi who were attempting to bring him down. Batsu shook his head. "Such a pitiful effort." Manuevering his way through the jutsus, he found his grip on the first shinobi's throat. Batsu didn't even blink as he snapped the guy's throat and then went to tear out the other's jugular.

Out of the three ninja of the squad attacking Batsu, two were wiped out immediately by the monster, and the remaining one could only stand frozen in fear. They hadn't been trained to handle something like this. Since he figured he was going to die anyways, the remaining ninja pulled out a scroll filled with bomb tags and a kunai and charged straight at Batsu after swiping his own blood across the outside of the closed scroll. He'd at least die trying to take this thing out with him. Swiping the kunai at Batsu, he activated the scroll as soon as he was close enough, causing a huge explosion, one that he could only hope the creature got caught in.

Kana had to lean on the wall of a building on her good side to keep herself from toppling over. A silver bracelet, which had been on her right wrist, had melted against her skin because of the previous explosion of flames from the creature. She saw that the medic attending Raiken had fled, because the kage had died, and she had to wonder where Renji was. There wasn't much time to wonder, because in one moment, she saw him getting up and going towards the creature, and then there was another explosion, one that hadn't come from the black haired male or the creature, and the very next moment everything in Kana's vision went white and she fell to her knees with her head in her hands as the net of chakra surrounding the village disappeared.
