Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Godfather Wed Jun 12, 2013 2:03 pm

In the darkest parts of the rogue forest a colorless soul walked in silence for no one dared be it's companion. It's canine's hidden behind it's thin lips and it's red eyes glowing in the dark, this souless creature was covered in the blood of other's it had killed. To survive it was required this creature, Batsu, or The God of Chaos as the villagers called him, to eat the heart and souls of it's victims. It was the price he had paid to exist. The price he had paid to live on. The violent transformation from soul to creature had turned him into this monstrosity, but at least he was able to walk and talk and feel. Although he didn't remember anything from before he was a soul, he was sure he hadn't always been like this.

Weary from the days hunt, the red eyed demon began to search for a river to wash the mass amounts of blood from his body. There was still some shred of humanity left, even if it was just a tiny piece. Upon finding a river Batsu dropped to his knees and washed off his clothes and skin. It was refreshing to have the sticky liquid off of his skin. Despite the need for sleep being unnecessary, Batsu laid down on his side and let his heavy black wings cover him like a protective barrier, the splashing of the water lulling him to sleep. He was more than weary, he was exhausted. The battle in the Sunshine had left him feeling a bit out of it.

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Jun 27, 2013 12:03 am

It was early in the morning when Serenity went to go search for herbs and flowers to make medicine with, as it usually was. The blond haired immortal rarely strayed from her routine, even if it was taking place in a different location than usual. She was still a healer, just in a different village. She still had people to take care of, only now, she refused to allow herself to become close with mortals. She was sick of being hurt, sick of caring. She just wanted to live a peaceful life, and for the past couple weeks, it had been so. She'd managed to start a new life in this village, this village nearby that had been so wracked with plague that they practically considered her a goddess for saving them from it. But it wasn't like she'd eliminated it completely. Before she'd come, they'd had no doctor, so they'd had no one to help heal their sick.

The villagers didn't know it, but Serenity was also sick, but in a...very different way, than the rest of them. Her soul was fading, but it was unable to go anywhere. It was stuck, existing in this unchanging body of hers. And the more she longed to disappear, the worse the pain got. Lately it had been radiating through her entire body, and it was horrible. Many nights she got no sleep, and if she was lucky enough to be so exhausted, maybe a couple hours. Yet nothing about her body changed. There were no shadows under her eyes, her hair did not become messy, and she didn't physically get sick. Only her tired demeanor and her lack of smiling could be any indicator to her condition. And perhaps the fact that she refused to let anyone touch her.

Serenity had spent many of her days lately trying to stay away from the Crested and the Vallies, which was why she'd chosen a village so far away. It had only taken her a couple days to get to the village, but that was because she'd traveled with Syndryl, and he'd helped her to move around faster, especially on the days that she wasn't feeling well. It had been several days since she'd thought of Felix and Hunter, which was good. When she'd first arrived at the village, not a day had gone by where one of them had not crossed into her thoughts. She wanted to forget. She wanted to erase the past, but since she couldn't do that, the next best thing would be to erase any memories of the two. People had called her a heartless witch in the past, and lately she'd been beginning to believe maybe that's what she should focus on becoming. It was easier than trusting people who would eventually turn around and hurt you anyways. She'd surprised herself by having taken this long to figure things out.

This morning, Serenity decided to stay out of the village a bit longer, for no reason in particular. She took her herbs and flowers to the river in the hatched basket she carried and knelt beside it, stripping the outer stems away and washing what remained before placing it back into the basket, unaware that not far down the river from her laid a monstrous creature, sleeping.

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Godfather Thu Jun 27, 2013 11:55 am

It was only when the sun rose back into the sky did he once again awaken. It was now a new day for soul hunting, but he had no fully recovered from the wounds he'd suffered from yesterday. The souls he'd eaten yesterday had done nothing to help him. Maybe it was that girl with the brown hair, she was different and as hard as he'd tried, there had been no way for him to take her soul. She was like a poisonous toxin, so he'd left her alone in order to keep on living. Now he was on his way to start the hunt once more. This way of surviving was rather depressing, but living was a dream come true. Moving through the forest at an oddly slow pace due to the severity of his injuries, he only stopped when he picked up the scent of human. Maybe a snack would make him feel all the better. Without further delay he started towards whatever poor soul was about to perish before him. Batsu however was very unaware of the extent of his injuries. His wings were bruised and battered and feathers were slowly peeling off here and there. His clothes were ripped and he looked physically exhausted. The intake of Madness he'd consumed while trying to devour Kana's soul had really done a number on him.

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Jun 27, 2013 12:55 pm

Serenity only looked up from her herbs when she heard movement other than the sound of flowing water. A rustling sound, and a couple snapping twigs here and there. Since she was on her knees, she only sat up and looked around, the hood of her brown cloak laying around her shoulders, her blond hair barely brushing against it when she turned her head. Her gaze landed on a creature who was surely several feet taller than her, with black wings and red hair. It looked hurt. Or maybe it was a he.

Serenity didn't get up, because she was too busy marveling and wondering about this creature. Her expression never changed though. She looked fairly tired, even if there was a hint of curiosity in her eyes. She didn't know if this creature was dangerous or not, and even if it was...well, there wasn't much else it could do to her. She couldn't die, and she was already in constant pain. "Do you need help?" she asked him calmly. Yes, she was going to refer to this being as a he, since, aside from the wings, he looked like any other human.

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Godfather Thu Jun 27, 2013 1:02 pm

One could only imagine Batsu's surprise when the woman asked if he needed help. Was she mad? Surely she was scared of him? Even children had sense enough to know he was a dangerous creature that could easily snatch away their lives. This was fairly strange to the creature with the red eyes. Batsu opened his mouth to speak, revealing an array of very sharp canines. What he'd meant to say was that she was foolish for thinking she could con him into thinking she wanted to help him so that he would spare of her life, but instead he picked up yet another familiar scent. "You know the man with silver hair?" If she knew his location then he could find the man with black hair, the Onihana.

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Jun 27, 2013 1:10 pm

Serenity noted the rows of teeth as he opened his mouth. Clearly she'd caught him off guard. She suspected he'd never encountered someone who hadn't been afraid of him before. Her facial expression changed from tired and curious, to tired and wary when a man with silver hair was mentioned. At first she wanted to tell him never mind about the help. She figured that wouldn't be smart. Her second thought was to lie to this being. She figured that wouldn't be smart either. How did he know she knew Felix? Why was Felix suddenly being brought up when she longed to just forget him? For a moment her eyes narrowed and her gaze became sad and downcast. Instead of answering his question, she looked back up to the winged creature, but didn't stand. "I can heal you, if you'd like. I'm a very good doctor," she promised softly. Why was it that when Felix was brought up, the pain radiating through her body only intensified? Why was it that it was him, who had once made her want to live, now made her want to disappear? She remembered...their phrase a long while back had been 'it's the pain that matters'. That was what the two of them practically lived by. But now that this blond healer was constantly in pain...it didn't seem like anything mattered. So why was it that Felix still brought her grief, when he no longer mattered to her?

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Godfather Thu Jun 27, 2013 2:08 pm

Batsu knew what this woman was doing, evading the question. "Will you answer my question," he asked. "I need to find him, he knows someone that I know." He usually didn't sit around and chat, but this woman had the scent of that man. It was faint, but it was there. "It's important." Behind him his wings fluffed out a bit, scattering feathers, before returning to their stationary position.

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Jun 27, 2013 2:31 pm

Considering this being had insisted on finding Felix, Serenity figured he wasn't going to let it alone. But she didn't want to put him in danger. She didn't want to put anyone in danger. That wasn't how she was. Isn't how she is. "I can tell you're dangerous," she said, as if making sure he knew she wasn't just blind or stupid. "I don't want to put him at risk." Instead of continuing to look at the creature while she spoke, she turned back to stripping the herbs and flowers of their outer stems and rinsing them in the river. "I don't want to hurt anyone," she said quietly. She couldn't stop her hands from shaking as she worked. The pain was getting worse. It made her want to cry. After rinsing another few plants, she rinsed her hands in the river and used the end of her cloak to gently dry them. She looked at the being as his wings shifted, scattering feathers around. Slowly, she got up and carefully started towards him. She motioned towards his wings. "May I?" She was usually this insistent with most people. She'd been this insistent with Felix as well. She didn't like seeing people hurt. It wasn't in her place to judge whether people were good or bad, and heal them based on that. Sometimes she handed out mercy to those who were in too much pain and wouldn't survive anyways, but those moments were usually things no one knew of. This was different though. She could help this being, and ease his pain, because as far as she knew, his wounds were only physical.

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Godfather Thu Jun 27, 2013 3:31 pm

Batsu shook his head when the woman simply claimed he was dangerous. "You tell me this as if I don't know already know." The red eyed creature narrowed it's eyes as Serenity turned away from him. "I'm a threat but you turn your back on me. You're not very wise." Batsu then bristled as Serenity got up and approached him. Baring his teeth he moved back. "Don't touch me." Fear was something he didn't possess, but this woman was strange. Did she wish to die?

"I turn my back because I needn't fear you," she said simply. It was true. Serenity had no reason to fear this being. Because if he were capable of killing her, she would accept him as readily as she was doing now. Maybe even more readily. But nothing was capable of killing her. The blond woman paused in her steps when the being practically snarled at her. "I won't hurt you. I can't. I don't have that kind of power," she assured him, her bright blue eyes looking at him tiredly. "Besides, you're the dangerous one here, remember?"

Post by The Godfather Thu Jun 27, 2013 4:02 pm

Batsu felt awakward. The situation he founf himself in was strange. Generally he didn't have this type of problem. He just killed people, but surprisingly enough, that wasn't happening before. "You smell odd," he said quietly, evading her question as she'd done him. "Like you're sick." Red eyes examined Serenity for a long time. "Your soul is tired." Batsu didn't met people like that. People with fading souls. This area was so strange. That brown haired girl that same effect. She wasn't tired though. She was being consumed. So many helpless souls.

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Jun 27, 2013 4:14 pm

Serenity almost gave the creature a look when he stated that she smelled weird. Had she been her normal self, she would have said something like 'that's not very nice,' but instead she just looked at him. A small look of surprise crossed her face when he said it was like she was sick. How could he smell something like that? Her illness wasn't a physical one that could be smelled by animals, or whatever this being was. Serenity actually took a step back when Batsu said her soul was tired. She didnt know how to respond. It was true, which was what shocked her most. This thing wasn't just guessing, he had hit the nail right on the head. She swallowed lightly before giving a slow nod. "Yes, I-...I am sick. Very much so...how did you know..? Or...I mean...who are you..?" She wasn't about to ask what he was, because, despite the fact it was now clear this being wasn't human, Serenity was still going to treat him like a person. Not like a monster, which was what she was sure everyone else saw him as.

Post by The Godfather Thu Jun 27, 2013 4:37 pm

Batsu nearly smiled. It seemed he'd taken her by surprise. "I'm a God," he said with a small shrug. "Or that is what the villagers call me." The red haired male spread his wings and flew into the nearest tree, more feathers scattered, but he took no notice. "I don't let many know my real name, only if they are of the Onihana Clan." The creature remained perched on the branch despite holding a conversation. "Have you heard of me before?" He tilted his head slightly. "Do you know what I do?"

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Jun 27, 2013 4:48 pm

Serenity very nearly told him never mind, because she was sure he was just trying to screw with her, and she wasn't much in the mood. But then he mentioned the villagers, and she started understanding who this was. When he flew up into the tree, the blond woman sat back onto the bank of the river. She was already tired of standing. "Are you the one destroying villages?" she asked softly. She was just realizing it now. She'd never heard what he looked like before, but she could imagine this creature before her taking down a village. It wasn't all that hard. Now, had he come across her without injuries, she might've had a harder time imagining it. She didn't care either way, though. He couldn't kill her.

Batsu only nodded. "I want to live," he said. "A life for a life." Batsu watched the woman sit down. "You've been alive for a very long time. But not as long as me." Batsu was shaking the feathers off his wings as he spoke. There were so many. Although his wings could pierce through bone, the feathers were silky smooth and soft. "If you are hurting I can help you. I know your pain." That was as about as sympathetic that Batsu could be.

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Jun 27, 2013 5:20 pm

"That's quite a few lives for just one," she said softly. Serenity didn't really understand his will to live being so great, especially when the only thing she wanted was to die. She wasn't going to judge him though. Many would see her longing for death as wrong as well, so she really had no place. "I don't quite think I'm the same age you believe me to be," she told him, looking up at him and his falling feathers. She wondered if it was at all possible to trade places with this creature. He wanted to live, and she wanted to die. She wondered if it was at all possible to allow her immortality to him. "You can help me..?" Her eyes saddened. "Thank you, but...I'm not sure there's so much you could do for me..."

Batsu shook his head. "But I can help," he responded. "If you wish to live without pain then take the souls of others. They don't deserve them and there are plenty more in the world." He nodded as if that was a plausible excuse. "Or if you wish to die, I will take your soul. Nothing exists without a soul. You are no more than a vessel." The black winged creature leaned forward. Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Jun 27, 2013 7:48 pm

Serenity's gaze very quickly found itself on the black winged creature when he said to make the pain stop, she'd have to take the souls of others. Never in a million years would she stoop to something like that. Was that what this being was doing to survive? It seemed like the man believed that to be a justifiable way to live, but Serenity...she could never do it. She'd been called evil, a witch, and a variety of other horrible things, but that was not her. She didn't like hurting people. Her eyes widened slightly when he said that he could take her soul, and she suddenly found herself very hopeful of this situation. "You can...you can take my soul?" She didn't care about not existing, she just didn't want this. This pitiful life she was being forced to lead. "I-I don't know if it will work, but...I would be grateful if you could," she said, with little hesitation. The stutter was only the result of disbelief at the concept. If he took her soul, he could continue living, and she could finally die. They would both get what they wanted. But Serenity was cursed and she knew it. She could only hope that her soul was capable of leaving her body, or being taken from it, in this case.

Post by The Godfather Thu Jun 27, 2013 9:46 pm

Batsu looked at the blond woman, holding her gaze. His eyes remained the same as the woman seemed to find his way of survival a gruesome way of living. He didn't care how he had to survive, he just did. When Serenity asked if he could take her soul he nodded without hesitation. "Of course." His response was prompt and confident. This was what the 'God of Chaos' did on a daily basis. There was no soul he couldn't consume, minus Kana who was plagued by Madness and even she was not immune to his abilities.

Serenity was glad to hear his confidence, because it seemed to be enough for the both of them. She wasn't at all confident that this would work, and she knew better than to get her hopes up. Her soul was attached to this body, and this body could not die. "Before you do, though...I'd...I'd like it if I could heal your wounds...however you choose to survive doesn't matter to me. I want to help you before you take my soul, if I can," she requested, looking up at the black winged man. She really did want to help him as much as she could before she was gone, for helping her in such a great way. Or, trying to, she supposed.

Batsu: The God of Chaos Empty Re: Batsu: The God of Chaos

Post by The Godfather Fri Jun 28, 2013 10:11 am

(I like how she's going to abandon the village she's been helping.)

Batsu wanted to free this trapped soul. Wanted to help her because he knew what it felt like to feel trapped in a world in which you didn't belong. He'd wanted to live in a world where he was a living being with a body, not some free floating wisps. And this woman wanted the very opposite. When offered to heal his wing, Batsu merely shook his head. "Not necessary," he said simply. "I will live. It is what I am meant to do." He leaned forward. "However, if you tell me where the man with the silver hair is, I will do just that."

Post by The Merciful Overlord Fri Jun 28, 2013 2:48 pm

(She didn't choose the village because it needed help, she chose it because it was tiny and remote, and no one would bother her there. She doesn't actually care about it.)

This creature reminded her oddly of Felix. 'Not necessary. I'll live.' She could've sworn she'd heard the silver haired man say that a long time ago. She didn't remember. That was good though, that she didn't remember. She had to stop remembering him. Serenity was silent for a few long moments after Batsu's ultimatum. What would it matter if she told him where Felix was? Hadn't Felix wanted to die too? At some point, he had anyways. But dying this way meant that her soul couldn't move on to see Jake or Liora, and Felix couldn't see Meridian. She was sure that wasn't what he wanted. Serenity looked down. "His name's Felix Kuriyama, but I don't know where he is. He's a ninja and the last I knew of him, he was rarely ever in the village," she said. She honestly didn't know where he could be. "I haven't had contact with him in a long while, so...so I don't know where he is," she said quietly, choking up a little in the middle of the sentence. She just wanted this to be over with...

Batsu looked at the woman with a smug look. She'd given him some information, but not enough. "What village," he asked. His red eyes were a bit narrow. Did this woman like this man, Felix. Was it someone she cared for the reason she seemed hesitant. Batsu left his spot on the perch and went down to Serenity. "Does he matter to you? The man with the silver hair." He wanted to know.

Post by The Merciful Overlord Fri Jun 28, 2013 3:15 pm

Serenity fell silent again when Batsu asked her what village. Why was she having such a hard time with this? She'd decided long ago that Felix meant very little to her. That he'd been the cause for most of her pain over the last several hundred years. She wanted to forget him. Pretend he never existed. But...she guessed she didn't want him to not exist. Especially not by her hand. Serenity looked at the black winged man when he came down from the tree and asked her if Felix meant something to her. For a moment, she simply looked confused. She didn't know. "I don't...no...he doesn't." Serenity shook her head lightly. She didn't hate him, but he didn't matter to her. "If I tell you, just...just don't take his soul. He has someone waiting for him, and if he doesn't exist, then he can't..." Silence fell over the blond haired woman and she only shook her head. "The Crested...his home village is the Crested."

Batsu smiled when she said to leave his soul be. "No one deserves a different outcome than anyone else, but if that is your wish." Batsu carefully spread his wings. "He matters not, but you seem defeated at telling me the location of this man. I only want to find the friend of your friend." Batsu gazed at Serenity. "Such a dull soul," he whispered.
