In an alternate dimension...

Post by Cross on Wed Oct 23, 2013 11:27 am

Suki stood behind the counter at her music shop, dusting off a violin that was usually on display on the back wall. It was a slow day, so she usually took up her time with cleaning and keeping the shop tidy. It had been about a year and a half since Tara had passed away, and since then Suki had tried to move on. She'd found herself a boyfriend and her shop, while small, was running smoothly. She taught kids how to play every now and then, and usually the parents seemed glad to pay the small fee she charged. She was actually fairly well known throughout the Gears, though she was certain it had something to do with the fact that her and Tara had been extremely popular traveling performers.

Felix stepped into the Gears feeling like he'd just stepped into the future. This place never ceased to amaze him. After his encounter with Kyla and his memories of Meridian, he figured that here would be a good spot to start over. Heading down the streets with his silver haired covering his blue eyes, his hand tucked in his pockets, and a small smirk on his face he explored the place he planned on calling home. So much had happened as if late. Kymin, Kana, Serenity and the girls, Kyla, Meridian, and the water spirit. He shook his head, for more he'd have to let that all go. "I wonder where I can find a house."

Suki put the violin down when someone came into her shop, laying it on the counter. It was a customer who was wondering about how to properly clean a violin. It was a young girl that Suki had seen around before, but had never had in her shop. Once taken care of, the girl smiled and gave a small wave before walking out of the shop, Suki giving a pleasant call of "please come again!" The girl turned to walk down the street, looking at her violin as she went, so she didn't notice the silver haired man she very nearly bumped into until the last minute. Stopping, she quickly moved out of the way with an embarrassed look. "Sorry," she said, holding her violin close to herself.

Felix blinked when the girl said she was sorry. He hadn't even noticed her until the last moment as well. "No problem," he said with a smile. He saw she had a violin and then looked to the door she'd come out. Might as well explore. He walked into the store and started to look around, not taking note of the girl at the counter.

The girl gave a small giggle and started off again, giving the older man a wave. Suki, on the other hand, had gone back to cleaning off the display violin, looking up when she heard the bell on the door ring. "Welcome. What can I-" The brown haired woman blinked, tilting her head and looking at the silver hair. "Felix? Felix Kuriyama?" she asked, blinking in surprise.

Felix was liking at everything and nothing. He didn't very much care for music, but he looked when others played or sang. His blue gaze turned to the front when someone said his name. He blinked when he saw the brown haired woman. "You're Suki, right?" He remembered her, she was one of Serenity's friends. He wondered where talk-a-lot was at. Probably up to no good. "How are you," he asked as he went over to the counter.

Suki smiled and nodded when the silver haired male remembered her. "That's me," she said. She wasn't as shy as she'd been back then, so she was fine with talking to him like this. "I'm good, just been trying to keep the shop up and running." She wanted to say that her and Tara had stopped traveling around a while back, but she really didn't want to bring up her dead best friend. "How have you been?"

Felix raised a brow. Well if she hadn't changed then he'd be outright lying. "Your shop is nice," he said with a nod. He went to say he'd been better but thought better of it. "I've been good," he replied. He wanted to ask about Tara since the brown haired girl was working a shop. Thinking that the name might be taboo he kept his trap shut.

"Oh good," she smiled. "How's-" Just then the bell rang, and a man with blue hair, glasses that covered up his brown eyes, and primarily dark clothing, walked into the shop carrying a guitar case strapped across his back and a plastic bag in his hand. "Good afternoon my dearest Suki, I have brought you some lunch," he declared with a bright grin, blinking when he saw that she had a customer. He gave an embarrassed chuckle. "Oops. Didn't realize you had a customer. I'll put it in the back then."

Suki couldn't help but giggle. That was her Kim, as bright and chipper as ever. He bore the look of a gothic teenager, even having black nail polish on, but she thought he wore it well. His personality was the exact opposite of dark and depressed. "Hey Kim. Oh, hey, hold on, don't go in back yet, I want to introduce you to someone," she said, giving a smile to Felix. Kim raised an eyebrow curiously and walked over to the counter, giving a look to the silver haired male. Blinking, Kim looked to Suki with an impressed 'oh really now?' look, then looked back to Felix as the brown haired girl giggled and introduced them. "Felix, this is Kim. He's a really good friend of mine. Kim, this is Felix Kuriyama. I met him a while back when I was still traveling around."

The silver haired male looked to the door when it opened. He wondered who this ever so joyful kids was. He smirked lightly when the guy realized he was there. How amusing. Felix didn't catch the look Kim had given Suki, but insteadĀ heldĀ out his hand when introduced. "Nice to meet you," he said with a nod. Felix's blue eyed were glowing as he spoke. This guy reminded him off Kymin. He wondered if it were possible, but then realized not enough time had passed. Oh well.

Giving a grin, Kim shook Felix's hand. "Ditto," he said cheerfully. "I'm gonna go put this in the back," he said, raising the bag. "Don't go anywhere, kay?" On his way to the back, he whispered something to Suki, who gave a laugh in response. "I don't think so," she laughed, to which Kim gave a huff. "Don't you laugh at me missy," he said, starting into the back with a small pout. Giggling lightly, Suki looked back to Felix. "So how long are you in the Gears for?" she asked with a smile, her hazel eyes shining in amusement.

He didn't know what was so funny, but he had a feeling it was about him. Shifting lightly Felix shrugged. "Not sure just yet. I don't stay in one place for too long," he replied. "Who knows, I might just stick around if I like it well enough. I did that with the Stealth." He shrugged again. "How about you, when did you take to settling down here?"

Re: In an alternate dimension...

"I would offer to show you around, but...well, between the shop and my boyfriend I'm kinda busy," she said with an apologetic smile. "Maybe Kim can show you around. He knows the Gears better than I do." She kinda wanted to ask about Serenity, but she wondered if that was off-limits. She'd never been great friends with Serenity, but Felix had liked her, and so had Tara. "About two years ago," she admitted. "I set up shop here about...one year ago," she said thoughtfully, giving a small nod.

"And you wouldn't believe what a natural she is," Kim said, coming out from the back with a yellow juice box in his hand and a straw sticking out of it. The guitar case he'd had coming in was no longer on his back. "I mean, look at this place. Who sets up a business in a year like this?" he asked with a grin.

Suki rolled her eyes. "Oh knock it off. You know perfectly well why it's so nice, and it has nothing to do with what a "natural" I am," she smiled. "I was just sayin, maybe you could show Felix around. He's not from here," she mentioned.

Kim took a sip of the juice box he had in his hand. "Oh yeah? Sounds like a good time," he said with a grin. "If you're up for it, I mean," he shrugged, casting a glance to the silver haired man.

(I don't hear Kim the same way I do in the other thread. This one sounds more feminine.)

Felix didn't mind not having Suki showing him around. It wasn't important. He was right about to say how he could find his way around until she offered Kim as a guy. When the guy agreed Felix narrowed his eyes lightly. Too much like Kymin. "I don't have anything else to do with my time," he said lightly. He looked to Suki. "Thanks." The silver haired jonin looked to Kim. "You as well." He was hoping this guy could lead him to a place to call home for a little while. Maybe he could settle here.

(Lmfao, I love it. It might be because this ones happier, and a happy Kim is usually more feminine/peppy. Might also be because of the words I'm havin him use. XD)

Kim gave a grin and took another sip of his juice. "Great. No prob." He finished off what was left of the juice and tossed it in the trash behind the counter. "Hey, so Suki, could you do me a favor love?" When Suki gave him an inquiring look, he continued. "One of my guitar strings snapped earlier. Honestly I was just gonna use that as an excuse to stop by because I had nothing to do, buuuttt..." When Suki smiled brightly and waved her hand, he took that as a yes. "Thanks. You're a doll," he grinned, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "I'll make sure your new boyfriend gets the best tour of the Gears and knows all the best places," he promised. Suki gave a playful huff and raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "Kim, he's not-"

"Yep yep, I got it, you're faithful and all that. Tell Ran-can I said yo," he grinned, ushering Felix out of the store with a grin. "Hurry up before she throws a drum stick at me, or worse," he laughed lightly. Ran-can was a derogatory little nickname he'd made up for Suki's current boyfriend. Kim wasn't a fan of the guy, mostly because in private the guy never bothered to hide his hate.

(I don't like the boyfriend.)

Felix watched the two talk. He'd actually started out before the conversation was over, but moved a bit faster when Kim ushered him out. "So, he said when they got out of the store, where are you taking me first?" He wondered how this darkly dressed male had managed to befriend Suki and just who this Ran-can was. He almost snickered at how stupid the name sounded. Ran-can, what the hell kind of nickname was that? He turned his head lightly to the side and then back to Kim. For someone so bubbly he sure did have a strange style of clothing. And fingernail polish...black at that. Felix decided to ignore it. It wasn't a problem because he didn't care.

(Figured you wouldn't.)

Kim grinned and stretched once they were out of the store. "Ah, good, I made it out in one piece," he snickered. "Hmm...well, what do you want to see first, friend?" He made a large motion with his hand to the street in front of him, as if all he could show the guy was right in front of them. "You have restaurants, bars, hotels, clubs, parks, shops," he said, naming all the things off in quick succession. "Of course, there's also the center of the Gears, our own high tech little Kage's Tower, as they're called in the Valley's. Or so I hear. Speaking of, where you from?" he asked brightly, waving Felix along as they started down the street.

Felix found this guy to be quite the character. As Kim named stuff off Felix listened. "Let's start with the shops, then the hotels, restaurants, and parks." He looked to Kim when the guy asked where he was from. "I'm from the Crested," he answered. "But I've lived just about everywhere." Felix would never complain about it either. He liked traveling. From his home village to the Stealth, to the Crested, and now to here. Felix of course had been to places in between the Vallies, but what did it matter, half those places had disappeared with time and the others no one remembered, just like the Fallen Rains.

"Shops it is!" Kim said, pointing forward before casting a grin towards Felix. He'd be honest. The first thing he'd noticed about this guy was that he was hot. Like, really hot. He'd asked Suki if he was interested in guys, but unfortunately, she'd said it was unlikely. That was really too bad. "The Crested, huh? It nice there?" He'd never been to the Vallies, so he didn't know much about any of them. The blue haired male turned down a street which was bustling with life at this time. "Well, this is the marketplace. You can get some pretty cool stuff here. This is mostly where traders from the mountain pass set up shop. I mean, they come along way with this stuff, so it's not really cheap, but there's a lot of foreign stuff," he pointed out. "Don't worry, this isn't the end to the shops though," he warned. "These are just the foreign goods, mostly. Since you've been around, a lot of this stuff would probably bore ya to tears, huh?" he joked with a chuckle.

Felix followed after Kim without a word. His gloved hands found their way to his pockets were he kept them as he walked. "It's nice, but I preferred the Stealth. It was more open there. Endless grass from the gates to the horizon." The silver haired male titled his head causing it to slid into his eyes. "It doesn't bore me to death. I don't generally have time to take in the luxuries. I've only been everywhere because I'm a ninja," he said absently as he looked around at the items being sold. "They don't come cheap," he mumbled with a sly smile. He was going to start a collection. Of what he wasn't sure.

Kim looked to the silver haired male with a sly grin. "I prefer the city. Doesn't have the most pleasant smells, but you come across all sorts of interesting people," he said. He then tilted his head. "You're a ninja?" He then hit his forehead with the butt of his palm. "Headband, duh. You on business now?" He asked curiously. Kim shook his head at the guy's observation. "No, no they do not. But a lot of the wares are worth it for people who don't get around," he nodded. When they got waved down by a vendor, Kim glanced at Felix. "Wanna go check it out?"

Felix nodded in agreement. "Indeed you do," he said as if it had an underlining meaning. The shinobi nodded again when asked if he were a ninja. He didn't care that his headband was hanging bright as day from his neck. "I'm taking a vacation for the time being," he answered. He glanced at the vendor and then started towards the guy. He wondered if there was anything interesting that he could buy. He kept cash on hand just for occasions like this.

Re: In an alternate dimension...

"Oh, I getcha. How long do you think you're gonna be here for?" he asked, clearly not having heard the conversation between Felix and Suki. Kim didn't make it a habit of eavesdropping. He followed Felix over to the vendor and took a minute to glance over the wares. There were all types of trinkets, mostly things like Japanese fans or charms for good luck or wealth. That kinda stuff. It was mostly foreign wares. For some reason, the blue haired male found this kinda stuff fascinating. When he heard someone calling him, he turned his attention from the wares and the guy who was trying to tempt Felix into buying the items. "Ah, yo Kazen!" Kim called gleefully as a blond man jogged up to him. "What's up?" he grinned.

The blonde man known as Kazen gave an embarrassed look. "Hey man, I need a favor." When Kim tilted his head, the guy continued. "I need you to spot me a machine. I'll pay full price for it, I swear."

At that, Kim gave a sigh and spoke in a low voice. "Damn it Kazen, you know I don't sell to civilians. Tammy would have my ass for it. The guy's a tyrant." He paused before putting a hand on his hip. "The hell do you need one for anyways? You got trouble?"

Kazen frowned. "Yeah, something like that." Kim gave him a look that said 'elaborate,' causing the blond to sigh. "Look, I'm just in a spot where I gotta defend myself, you know man?"

Kim gave him a small look. "You're always in that kinda spot. Look, I'm sorry, I can't. Go to the police, okay?"

Kazen shook his head with an irritated look. "Yeah man, they've done a great job up until now," he said sarcastically. "Don't worry man, I got you," he said with a click of his tongue. "I got you," he repeated before walking away.

Kim gave a small roll of his eyes before turning back to Felix with a grin, looking over the guy's shoulder. "Buy anything?"

Felix shrugged. "I don't stay in one spot for too long, it just depends on how I feel." He then went back to looking over the items, not bothering to see who Kim was talking to. He was thinking about getting something that was for good luck, or another locker. Or a better pair of gloves. He blinked when Kim suddenly spoke behind him. "Not yet," he said as he backed away from the table when he spotted a tiny red yin piece. "How much for that," he asked.

"So you just move on a whim? You must have a ton of money saved up if you can do that," Kim chuckled. He was glad that Felix hadn't seemed to notice the conversation he'd had with Kazen. The blue haired male looked over the table himself curiously. It was only when he spotted a silver chain necklace that his interest seemed piqued. "This real silver?" he asked, picking it up and examining it between his fingers. The vendor answered Felix first, telling him that the trinket was just two kanim, then telling Kim that the chain was indeed pure silver, mined from the mountainous regions near the Village of Coal.
