The Darkest Hour Empty The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Fri Aug 12, 2016 11:22 pm

Lights flashed brilliantly around the room, the music so loud that it pulsed through every person through the room. A jolt of life that kept the mingling bodies moving in a fantastic rythmn. Bodying entwining like gnarled roots of a tree. The walls vibrated as if they were alive, drowning out the voices of the delighted crowd that filled the room from front to rear.

Among them was Marius King. The pink haired male was drenched in sweat, his medium length hair matted against his head and face, skin tight black leather jeans perfectly matched his  black and gold sleeveless shirt. He danced around with whoever he found worth while, which was damn near everyone. Anyone was better than Tobias.

Unbeknownst to his friends, Marius had been seeing Tobias quite often since they're little encounter at his bedroom. Marius was addicted to the black haired male with his gorgeous blue eyes.  Each night he allowed Tobias to do as he pleased and every moment he felt like shit. All he wanted was Tobias and yet all he could have was a few hours of sloppy sex that made him feel like some whore in the streets. This had been going on for about three weeks now and Marius had finally just caved, finding himself at the nearest club where he could get drunk off his ass and screw whoever he wanted as though it would make a difference. It wouldnt. If Tobias found out, he'd make him pay for sure. The bastard was a sadistic fuck, but Marius still loved him. He could never stop loving him.

He hung onto the neck of some blond that was around his age, but he was all muscle, athletic and sexy and everything Marius wanted at that very moment. They kissed, exploring one another, entwining their bodies together. They were perfectly synced. Marius was so caught up in the moment and he loved every single moment of it.

He'd been going at partying for about four days straight now, calling out on Monday to tell them he wasn't feeling  too hot, which had been true because he'd partied all Sunday and had woken up in a hotel with some guy he'd been snogging all night. Then that Monday he'd gone out to the red light district on the edge of town and had repeated the night before, hooking up with three different guys throughout the night.

The first guy had bought him drinks until Marius was crawling all over him. They soon made their way to the bathroom where they partook in activities that had left the pink haired male a complete mess. The guy had left Marius after that and Marius had sat in the bathroom feeling empty and numb. He declined Tobias' phone calls and deleted the voice-mails without so much as listening to them. It was Tobias' fault he was even here. Marius supposed he shouldn't play the blame game. He wanted to be here. To hook up without having any strings attached. When he was with Tobias, he always felt so very torn at the end of it all. He wanted what they had built for four years, not a quick fuck, a few sweet words, and then Tobias left again.

Just thinking about it had led him to go out with the second again and third guy that night. The second had gotten right to the point, but the third gave him a bit of motivation.

Everybody had their skeletons in the closest, he was no exception. It had been a long time since he'd walked the dark road that consisted of drugs. He hadn't been deep enough to completely screw his life up, but he'd done it often enough and long enough to lose friends and family. Here in Roulette city he only had a few friends, since he'd dropped any association with those that could cause him to run into Tobias. Fancy that, he'd still managed as much. Life sucked.

He'd swallowed the pills like they were candy. Mixed with alcohol and more dancing and it wasn't long before he was being dragged off to some crumb hotel room. He didn't remember what happened the rest of that night. He just knew that the school had blown up his phone and when he finally answered he'd made up a shitty lie about being at his mother's house. Then he'd shut his phone off and gone back to sleep. Whoever he'd been went the night before had left, leaving him a nice little present on the nightstand. Marius downed those pills too and ended up crying in the shower until he couldn't cry anymore.

Tuesday night was a repeat of everything he'd already done on Sunday and Monday, but it didn't matter. Work didn't matter, Tobias didn't matter, Roy didn't matter. Nobody mattered. He could do whatever he wanted. Who could possibly judge him? Who had the right to judge him? Marius danced the night away, consuming as much alcohol as he could stand and as many pills that it took to numb the pain. Eventually he blacked out.

There's always something grotesque about blacking out in a room full of strangers when you're intoxicated and high on drugs. You're vulnerable and weak and willing and Marius was oh so willing. That morning he lay behind the club with a killer headache, throwing up whatever he'd eaten last night. The bile tasted horrible on his tongue. He groaned and checked his pockets. All of his cash was still there. Brownie point for him. He leaned his head back against the cool stone and tried to recap the previous night's events. The mere attempt made his head swarm and he groaned in pain, vomiting all over his clothes. He made haste in getting himself into a hotel and washing up, the smell of alcohol and sex clung to his skin and his arm throbbed from where he'd stepped it up in the drug use. Cold showers always helped, but they didn't erase the reality of his actions.

Actions that clearly weren't consequential enough because he'd gone back for the fourth night in a row. That's how he'd ended up with the muscular, athletic blond. They kissed, an exchange of pills that Marius swallowed easily, his body moving against his partner who was hot, almost feverish.

Marius had already shot up twice earlier that night. He had found it a bit funny, drugs, sex, and rock and roll. He was living the dream. The pink haired male who was so usually well kept had dark rings under his ocean blue eyes and his pink hair was messy, skin clammy. His heart beat quickly in his chest and he brushed it off as adrenaline, the sweet anticipation of what this blond would do to him had him feeling like he was on cloud nine. It was a wonder that they made it outside into the rain. Marius didn't recall the forecast calling for rain. He didn't recall watching the weather channel this morning either.

All of those silly doubts disappeared as he was pressed into the wall and showered with kisses on his neck. The cool rain helped to cool him down. He began to undress, but his partner was eager, pumped on drugs and testerone. He ripped that pretty black and gold shirt, crushing Marius into the wall, pulling at his pants. He couldn't undress him fast enough. Marius was already panting, mind whirling. He fumbled with the button and zipper and finally managed to get it undone. That was all the blond needed. Marius was his. Marius didn't even know the guy's name.

By the time the rain had stopped they had finished. He'd placed his phone number in Marius phone and the two had gone back into the club where they talked a bit until Marius felt like his entire body was on fire. He excused himself and stumbled out of the club into the damp night air. He went behind the club and vomited until he was dry heaving. Down on his hands and knees he tried to make sense of what was happening. Maybe he'd had too much to drink.

Ocean blue eyes stared at the ground. He was spacing out. He couldn't focus. Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew he needed to call for help, but his brain would work. He started to heave up again until his insides hurt and then he collapsed onto his side, body convulsing. Rain began to fall again, but he wasn't aware. The music was louder than the rain, but he couldn't tell. His phone was ringing, but he didn't hear it. He stared blankly at the night sky, so bright with stars. His body jerked once and then he went still, but the music kept playing, the rain kept falling, and the phone kept ringing.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Merciful Overlord Wed Sep 14, 2016 6:02 am

Days had gone by, and Kinaga still couldn't get ahold of Marius. This had never happened before. Usually Marius would tell him if he was going to be out of contact, out of town, but not this time. This time it was just...nothing. Marius had just disappeared off the face of the planet, and Kinaga had never been more worried for the pink haired male's safety. He'd been to Marius' apartment several different times. Kinaga found the spare key after the third day and went in, against his better judgement, to find something, anything, that would hint at where Marius was. But no. There was nothing.

Kinaga didn't want to go find Tobias. He didn't want to believe that Marius had run off with the guy. His mind went to horrible places when he thought about it. Thought about how Tobias could have been treating Marius. Could have been keeping him out of contact with the few real friends Marius had in Roulette City. Instead of getting any real sleep, Kinaga went out Monday night to walk the streets to see if he could find a glimpse of his friend. The same routine Tuesday night as well. On Tuesday night though, he'd smartened up and started asking at the front door of night clubs or bars to see if anyone had seen Marius. He didn't want to believe that Marius had gone back to Tobias. He'd just...needed to blow off some steam. That was all. Marius used to frequent night clubs, didn't he? Kinaga remembered him saying as much a long time ago.

On Wednesday night, Kinaga grew desperate. He was exhausted, physically, mentally, emotionally. He hadn't slept well the past few nights. He'd continued teaching at the school to ensure that the students didn't worry, but...Marius was all he could think about. He couldn't find his friend. Marius was missing. It was hard to keep up a happy facade for the kids, even though he did it on a regular basis. But...normally all he had to worry about were his own pathetic problems. He never had to worry about something this serious.

Kinaga walked through the streets, calling Marius' phone as he went. He'd left so many voicemails that he'd lost count. "Marius, please...this isn't funny anymore, I...I need to see you. To hear from you, something. Anything. I need to know you're alright. It's been four days Marius, I need to know you're okay..." Kinaga trailed off, his eyes glancing around as he walked. He hung up. He walked up to the entrance of the nearest night club while dialing Marius' number on his phone. He held the phone to his ear as he asked the guy at the door if he'd seen a pink haired male come in tonight. Thin, with ocean blue eyes, about yea tall, probably wearing something flashy. The guy told Kinaga he saw a lot of people come and go from the club, and the description didn't jump out at him, but he'd keep an eye out. Kinaga gave a half-hearted thanks and moved on, the phone still held to his ear. He could hear the music from the club as he passed by its side alley, which he guessed led towards the back of the club. He didn't give a damn about the rain. He just wanted to find his friend.

That's when he heard it. Marius had a very specific ringtone, and Kinaga would have recognized it a mile away, especially given how desperate he was to find the guy. Praying that he wasn't just hearing things, Kinaga backpedaled towards the alleyway where he was hearing the ringtone from. He followed the sound to the back entrance of the club. Anything would have been better than what he'd found. Marius was laying on the ground, next to, and partially in, what Kinaga could only assume from the smell to be a pool of vomit. The blue haired male slid down next to Marius and leaned over him, dropping his phone on the ground as it went to Marius' voicemail. "Marius! Oh god Marius..! Look at me, please, s-say something," he begged, his eyes shining with tears that mixed in with the rain that was coming down. He'd never had to deal with a situation like this. He normally stayed away from things like this. But Marius...he was here in the alley of some night club, pale as a god damned daisy, and laying in the rain in a pool of his own throw up. He didn't care what had happened, he just...he just wanted Marius to be safe. To be okay, to not...to not die. He wouldn't be able to stand losing Marius too. He just couldn't do it. "Oh god, oh god," he mumbled, retrieving and fumbling with his phone until he could get it to hang up. He dialed 911 and put a hand on the side of Marius' face. "I-I'm gonna get you help buddy, a-alright?" God, he hadn't even read the name of the night club, he had no idea where they were. He looked around. The name of the club was on the back door. He could get Marius help.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Sun Nov 06, 2016 5:03 pm

Marius didn't remember blacking out. He just remembered dancing and having fun. Yeah, fun. He would have been kidding himself. The pink haired male laid unconscious, his heart thumping in his chest. He was pumped on drugs, and there was a high chanc he'd overdosed. No, he had. It had been a stupid decision, but he'd been emotionally distressed. He'd made a mistake and unknowingly dragging his friend down with him. He hadn't meant to. He gave a gasping shaking breath, moaning in his sleep. He thought he was dreaming of hearing Kinaga's voice. Why did he sound distressed? Marius guessed it was because Kinaga was always distressed and worried. Such a good friend. He would have smiled in his sleep had his body not been reacting horribly to the foreign substance that was pumping through his veins. While unconscious he thought about Roy, who he'd been avoiding to appease Tobias. Then he thought about Tobias who he loved so dearly but could not keep a steady grasp on him. He wanted them to be fine. Tobias was everything to him, but their love had died out. That was enough to break his heart all over again even in his sleep. Marius suddenly relaxed, his heart beat slowing down until it stopped. A single noticeable tear spilling past his closed eyes. He didn't want to live if he couldn't have Tobias.

It wasn't too long before help came, and when they did, they seemed like they'd seen things like this before. It didn't reassure the blue haired male. It also didn't reassure him when they started doing chest compressions because Marius apparently wasn't breathing, and had no pulse. Oh gods. He couldn't do this. He couldn't go through watching Marius die too. It was too much. He wasn't strong enough for that. Kinaga nearly curled up into a ball while waiting to hear if the medics had been able to revive Marius. He obviously went with them to the hospital when Marius was clear to be moved. He didn't want Tobias coming anywhere near him. He didn't like using force, but he would if he had to. He would if that's what it meant to keep Marius safe. He suddenly wished he'd gotten his gun back from Marius. Not to use on Tobias, but...to use if Marius didn't make it. Or...even...even maybe to use now. What was the point when he couldn't even protect his best friend?

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Marius was unaware of his situation, in fact he was oblivious to everything. Maybe that was what happened when a person died. No pretty white lights at the end of the tunnel, just endless darkness. Maybe he'd used up all of God's good graces. With the way he'd lived his life, he wouldn't be surprised if the big guy upstairs sent him to hell instead of letting him into the pearly white gates. He hadn't exactly lived a life of good. He'd been down quite a few shitty roads in his lifetime to be so young, but at least he had fun. At least he'd die knowing he'd lived the good life.

Roy drove down streets, left hand on the wheel, while the other was holding his phone to his ear. He was trying to get in touch with Marius, but the phone just kept ringing and ringing. He wasn't frantic, just concerned. Marius had missed their date and the pink haired male never did that. Usually Marius would give him a call, but the other had been acting pretty strange the last few weeks. Roy was chalking it up to be that Marius wasn't interested anymore. He didn't mind if that was the case, he just wanted to check on the guy and make sure he was okay. The black eyed male had already driven by Marius's place, but he wasn't there, so instead he called Serena. "Hey, it's Roy. I know it's late, but could you call Kinaga, Marius friend, and see if he's seen him? Thanks." He hung up and frowned. He hoped Marius was okay.

Tobias stood outside Marius's apartment. His eyes narrow. Some guy that wasn't Kinaga had stopped by, but Marius wasn't home. Just what the hell was going on and why wasn't Marius picking up his phone? He started to pace the floor. He was getting really pissed off.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Merciful Overlord Mon Feb 20, 2017 5:12 am

By the time Kinaga got the call from Serena, he was sitting in the room they were going to take Marius into once they were done taking care of him. Pumping his stomach and whatever other god awful things they had to do to revive him and make sure he lived. Kinaga just sat in the chair with his head in his hands, trying not to break down more than he already was. He'd stopped crying upon getting to the hospital, but he couldn't stop the worrying. Couldn't stop the aching in his chest from the pain he felt upon remembering how he'd found Marius. Kinaga looked at his phone and answered shakily. "Now is not a good time."

Serena blinked. Woah. Kinaga sounded like crap. Had she woken him up? "Sorry to wake you-"

"You didn't...what is it, Serena..?"

Straight to the point. Alright. She didn't know Kinaga very well, but he didn't seem like the type to be intentionally rude or brief without some kind of stress inducing it. "Ah. Okay, um...sorry. Look, Roy is looking for Marius and apparently can't get in contact with him? He asked me to call you and see if you knew where he was."

"He's in th-the hospital," Kinaga said, choking up about halfway through the sentence.

Serena's eyes widened. "Woah, what? What happened? Is he okay? Are you okay?" Kinaga sounded awful. Something really bad must have happened.

"I...don't know if he'll be okay," the blue haired male replied, his voice cracking once more. "I have to go."

Serena pulled the phone away from her ear and looked at it. He'd hung up. If it was as bad as it sounded, she could think of only one hospital nearby where they'd be at. She frowned and started getting dressed. She'd been in her house in her pajamas, watching a movie, but that wasn't exactly important right now. She dialed Roy's number. "Roy, come pick me up. Apparently Marius is in the hospital, and it sounded bad. Kinaga didn't tell me what happened, but he sounded..." she trailed off. "Just come get me, I want to come with." She wasn't really close with Kinaga, but she knew enough to know that he didn't have many close friends. And he'd sounded absolutely terrible. She was sure that he needed someone there with him.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Tue Feb 21, 2017 1:28 am

Roy had been driving aimlessly, waiting for Serena to call him back. When his phone rang he picked it up immediately. He opened his mouth to say something, but then Serena told him to come get her, and that Marius was in the hospital and that Kinaga hadn't given her any details. "Be there shortly," he spoke, his voiced a bit strained as he felt his throat tighten with panic. Was Marius hurt? How bad of a condition was he in? He tried to focus on the road, attempting not to speed down the roads. He wouldn't be any good to anyone if he got arrested for reckless driving. He did a U-turn and headed for Serena's house, taking the shortest route he could remember. A thousand thoughts were running through his mind, none very pleasant. When he got to Serena's house he beeped the horn, but didn't get out. He was tapping his fingers against the steering wheel, his black eyes impatient and concerned. "Fuck," he swore under his breath. Repeating the words over and over again he wanted to start screaming. He punched the steering wheel and then sat back shaking his head. He prayed he was overreacting.

The doctors had taken Marius back and were doing their best to revive the pink haired male by all means necessary. They didn't need another lost cause tonight. It had been a rough night already and their job was to save lives, not to let them slip away. They pumped Marius' stomach of whatever pills he'd downed and then put him on an IV to keep him hydrated and to flush out whatever the hell he may have injected into his bloodstream. The guy was going to feel like shit when he woke up, but at least he'd be alive. They'd already started the blood work to see what was in his bloodstream so that they could get the proper counter meds.

Serena was dressed by the time Roy got there and practically sprinted out to the car, hopping in and closing the door. "Go," she told him, strapping herself in as he started off. She saw how antsy Roy was now, and for good reason. "I'm sure it's not as bad as it sounded," she tried to assure him. "I might have just overreacted, but...it sounded like Marius and Kinaga need us to be there," she told Roy with a frown. She wasn't going to tell Roy what Kinaga said. That he didn't know if Marius was going to be alright. That would be cruel. Roy was already bent up enough about this as it was. Serena gave a sigh. "I hope they're alright..." She didn't know Kinaga or Marius too well, but...she liked the pair. They were pretty likeable guys. Kinaga especially. He was just so innocent, and that was such a rare trait.

Kinaga sat alone in the hospital room with the lights on. Honestly, he would have left them off, but the nurse who'd told him to wait here had turned them on for him. It was obvious they were expecting Marius to live, since they'd already assigned him a room, but that didn't really reassure Kinaga. All he could think if was how fucked up this whole situation was. How he'd failed to find Marius in time, how he couldn't even protect Marius from Tobias, let alone from himself. Why hadn't Mar come to him? Kinaga held his head in his hands and tried not to give a sob. "Mar...why...why do this..." Had Marius really been as suicidal as he was? Had Kinaga really just not seen it? He was such a horrible friend. He was such a horrible person.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Tue Feb 21, 2017 12:00 pm

Roy looked at her for a heartbeat. His expression changing slightly when she spoke to him. It was as though he were slowly regaining his composure. He looked to the street asks stepped on the gas. Yeah, they were overreacting. Roy didn't know Marius all s that well. They weren't dating, but they weren't friends worth benefits either. Sure he'd screwed the guy outside the bar that night, but it wasn't all about sex. No, they'd gone on small dates too, but Marius hadn't seemed interested in calling them dates or admitting they were dating. That was okay. Come to think of it, when he'd gone to Marius place in search of him, the neighbor had said he'd probably gone off with his ex. That they had started setting each other again. Roy was not going to put much thought into that one. Maybe they were just close or something. He wasn't a home wrecker. When they got to the hospital parked and hurried to the front desk, got the room number and hopped on the nearest elevator. By the time he got to the room, he was panting. He looked at Kinaga. "Where is he? What jappened?"

How long could someone be down without permanent brain damage? How much did it take to start a person's heart back up? The pink haired male had overdosed badly and they were having trouble bringing him back from the abyss that was trying to claim him. They were probably going to have to call it, but maybe one last time. "All clear." They shocked him again. He screamed. They had a fighting chance. They'd alert the blue haired male when they were sure he wouldn't go back under.

Serena followed after Roy, keeping with his pace. She wasn't as worried about Marius as he was, but she wasn't just going to let him run there and walk behind him. That wasn't what friends did. She brushed her bangs from her face when they got to the room. She was panting lightly too, but didn't say anything. She just looked at Kinaga for a moment. He looked like absolute shit. Poor guy...

Kinaga looked up when he heard footsteps coming towards the room, and didn't seem too perturbed to see the two come into the room. The more the merrier, right? If he hadn't been so down, Kinaga might have laughed at his own morbid humor. "I...think they're trying to bring him back still. I...I don't know. I haven't-" Kinaga choked up and rubbed his face with both his hands, running them through his hair afterwards. "I haven't h-heard anything since they put me here to wait," he told the two. "I don't know what happened," he said, his voice cracking. "He OD'd on something. Or...a lot of somethings, I don't know..."

Serena blinked and walked into the room. She was almost afraid to approach Kinaga. He looked so vulnerable, so fragile. Like a single touch would break him. "What..? Why would he do that," she asked quietly, looking to Roy.

"Because of that...because of..." Because I couldn't stop him. Because I wasn't there to stop him. "It's because of Tobias, I...I think..." He didn't know if Serena or Roy knew about Tobias, but if telling them meant more help in keeping Marius safe from him, Kinaga would tell them all about his best friend's ex.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Tue Feb 21, 2017 9:11 pm

Roy blinked when Kinaga spoke. Marius had done what? His heart skipped a beat when Kinaga said they were trying to bring him back. Okay, now was not the time to get caught up in his feels. It was clear that Kinaga needed some support right now. He walked deeper into the room. He shrugged when Serena looked at him. The thing was, he didn't even know Marius was into drugs. The guy had always been eager for sex, but they'd never discussed substances. He stayed standing, but he did put a hand on Kinaga's shoulder, giving a light squeeze. "He'll pull through," he offered. He really hoped the guy would. When Kinaga mentioned someone named Tobias, he tilted his head. "Who's Tobias?" He asked. Maybe talking about someone other than Marius would help get Kinaga's mind off of everything that was going on.

Tobias started making phone calls. If Marius wouldn't pick up, then he'd start contacting places he usually hung out with. The first time he'd seen Marius after their breakup, the guy had said he'd screwed someone named Roy at a bar. Perhaps this Roy was frequently entertaining Marius. He called all the bars and clubs until he got the information he wanted. The answer he received was not one he wanted, but it did bring him genuine concern. At one point or another, he had loved Marius.

They wasn't sure sedating him was the best idea. He had enough drugs in his system as it was, so he'd have to just deal with it for a while. Those ocean blue eyes filled with tears as he thrashed and fought until he vomited, which according to the doctors was a good thing. When he finished throwing up he collapsed on the table, falling unconscious. He didn't have any energy and everything really hurt. They could probably say he was out of the woods for the time being, but they would make sure to flush all of the drugs out first.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Merciful Overlord Wed Feb 22, 2017 6:30 am

Kinaga looked up at Roy, the stains of old tears still visible from running down his face. He took a shaky breath and looked back down. "God I hope so," he muttered breathily. He sniffled lightly and swallowed when Roy asked who Tobias was. "He's...he was Marius' boyfriend a long time ago. A year ago. They'd been together for...four years, and...a-and then he just dropped him and left Marius alone...Mar loved him so much, and the guy just..." Kinaga fell silent for a moment. "He...left Marius for a year, without contact of any kind and then just suddenly came back, and...and...I think he's been hurting Marius...physically," he said, glancing to Roy and Serena. Kinaga had seen how Marius had been nursing his wrists the night after he'd gone after Tobias. He'd seen the red around Marius' neck. But they'd told each other that there would be no more worrying, except for the general things. Well...Kinaga had long since broken that promise. "The guy's bad for Mar. I can't let Tobias anywhere near him, or..." Kinaga shook his head. "The guy is like a horrible, horrible drug to Marius. He's so dangerous for him, but I...I just can't get Marius to listen to me, and n-now this happened, and...a-and he's..." Kinaga couldn't help that his body was shaking lightly. Marius had died right in front of him and he hadn't had the faintest idea how to help him. And he was still helpless. He was just sitting here and waiting. Doing nothing but talking to people that him and Marius had only just met less than a month ago.

Serena frowned and pulled up a chair next to Kinaga. Sue gently rubbed his back as his body shook. "Hey look, this isn't your fault. If this guy really is that bad for Marius, me and Roy can help keep him at bay. Right Roy?" she asked, looking to her friend. Somehow she knew that Roy would be pissed upon hearing this. Hell, she wasn't even close to Marius and she was pissed to hear that someone might have been abusing him.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Wed Feb 22, 2017 12:53 pm

Roy put the pieces together rather quickly. They'd only known each other for a month, but he remembered on the first night that Marius had made it clear he wasn't looking for a relationship because he'd gotten out of a long standing relationship. So it had been with Tobias and considering that Kinaga had just told him that Marius had been in love with the guy, this might be the same boyfriend that the neighbor said the pink haired male might have been with. The more he listened to Kinaga talk the more pissed off he got. The thought of anyone taking advantage of and hurting Marius made his blood boil. It made him want to bash the guy's face in. He removed his hand from Kinaga's shoulder as Serena moved to sit near him. "Serena's right," he spoke, keeping the rising anger out of his voice. "He's not getting near Marius." Roy dared the guy to show his face, he'd rearrange it. "I'm gonna go grab us some coffee," he said as he stepped back and left out the room.

While Roy was away a doctor came in. He nodded to Serena and then looked to Kinaga, a tiny little nurse next to him. "I have an update on your friend," the doctor began. "I'm going to tell you, but I'd also like to notify his next of kin." He looked at the two of them. "Right now he's out of the woods, but we're unsure as to how long that will last. We were able to bring him back, but he's got several drugs in his system and it's going to be a battle to help him while he's not under and painkillers." He crossed his arms. "We don't want him to have any more drugs in his system while we're trying to flush out whatever he took." He paused. "We're going to bring him in here soon, just so you're prepared.." He'd looked at Serena when he said it. The patient couldn't have look any worse for wear than if he'd been dragged behind a truck at high speeds.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Merciful Overlord Wed Feb 22, 2017 2:00 pm

Kinaga looked up when Roy said he was going to get them some coffee and nodded. He was sure his face was all sorts of pale. He probably needed coffee. He probably needed something in his system. He didn't remember the last time he ate something substantial. He'd been so worried over Marius that food had seen trivial. Like an afterthought. He'd had no appetite anyways, so he didn't bother with nourishing himself.

Serena glanced over to the blue haired male once Roy was gone. "Hey, we're here for you, okay? For you and Marius. He'll pull through this," she repeated Roy's words with a small, hopefully reassuring smile. When the doctor came in, she looked over to him, glancing to Kinaga every now and then as the doctor spoke.

Kinaga immediately sat up when the doctor came in, his eyes alert and pleading. He needed to hear good news. Something. Anything but hearing that Marius was gone. When the doctor said they'd been able to bring him back, Kinaga nearly went slack with relief, and he felt Serena's hand rest lightly on his arm. It sucked to hear that Marius wouldn't be given pain killers, but if it meant that the guy would live, then he didn't care. He couldn't lose Marius too. He wouldn't be able to survive another blow like that in his life. "His mother lives all the way out in Shibuya. She's the closest family he has," Kinaga told the doctor hoarsely. He'd nearly asked when he could see Marius, but then the doctor said that they would be bringing him in soon. Kinaga nodded, trying to keep his body from trembling. "Thank you," he said quietly.

Serena gently rubbed along Kinaga's arm. Damn. The fact that the doctor felt it necessary to 'prepare' them for Marius' coming in must have meant that he probably looked pretty bad. She knew the effects that drugs could have on people and their appearance. Hell, she had personal experience with that effect. She'd been in Marius' situation on more than one occasion. But she'd been lucky each and every time. She'd come back. Not everyone did.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Wed Feb 22, 2017 2:18 pm

The doctor nodded when Kinaga claimed that the other male's mother lived in Shibuya. That was pretty far, but if her son passed, it was only right that she had a heads up. "I'd like her contact information." Unbeknownst to the doctor, Mrs. King knew all about her son's previous lifestyle and it had broken her heart. When Marius finally dropped the drugs and started getting his life together she'd be so happy and proud of him. It would probably be detrimental to her health to know that Marius had fallen back into old habits. The nurse looked down at her pager. "Sir, we're needed in trauma room 3," she said. The doctor excused himself and the two left.

Roy bought three coffees, but he took a moment to return to the room because he really needed to go out and smoke a cigarette to calm his nerves. Sure he'd been trying to quite for years now, but every time he got close to breaking the habit some major stressor reared it's ugly head. After he'd finished smoking his cigarette he headed up to Marius' room. The doctor was gone, but it wasn't like he knew the guy had even shown up. He handed Serena and Kinaga each a cup. "There's sugar and creamer in the bag," he told them. He leaned against the wall, his black eyes glancing down the hall, coffee in hand but he wasn't really in the mood for drinking it. He was thinking about Marius.

The doctor and his nurse returned a moment later with a few IV bags, and following behind them were a few other doctors rolling Marius into the room. The pink haired male was pale and clammy looking. His hair was matted to his head, his eyes were closed but dark, and he was gripping the sheets, mumblings something incoherent in his sleep. He looked like he was in pain. All the IV's attached to him were filled with medicine or fluids. There were at least three, maybe four bags up there, and over his face was an oxygen mask. "He's probably going to be out for a while, but call us if you need anything. We'll be monitoring his vitals from the front."

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Merciful Overlord Wed Feb 22, 2017 2:31 pm

Once Roy returned, Kinaga thanked him quietly for the coffee. "A doctor stopped by," he told the other male, leaning forward in his chair and holding the cup between his hands. "They said they'll be bringing Marius in soon." Kinaga truly wasn't ready when they did finally bring Marius into the room. If possible, he looked even worse than he had before. Maybe it was the lighting. Or maybe it was all the bags and cords hooked up to him. The blue haired male had to put his coffee down. He didn't want to see Marius like this, but he couldn't just abandon his friend. "I have her phone number," Kinaga told the doctor quietly, pulling out his phone to retrieve it. Marius had given him the phone number as a 'just in case'. Kinaga didn't want Mar's mom to find out about this yet, but it would be wrong to hide it from her. Once he gave the doctor her name and phone number, he moved his chair closer to the bed and took one of Marius' hands in both of his. "Hey buddy," he said quietly, his voice cracking a bit. He didn't even know if Marius was really outcold or not. All he knew was that the guy looked like he was in pain.

Serena sat quietly in her own chair, adding cream and sugar to her coffee. She didn't want to interrupt Kinaga right now. Poor guy just needed to be next to his friend. Serena held back a sigh. She'd been trying to get away from this scene. She'd stopped using a couple years ago. She knew what horrible effects drugs could have on a person and their loved ones. And it seemed like Marius had been doing the hard stuff, too.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Wed Feb 22, 2017 2:44 pm

Roy nodded when Kinaga spoke to him about Marius being brought in soon. When they did though, Roy looked uncomfortable. He'd never been down that road, but his life wasn't all butterflies, rainbows, and unicorns either. He glanced to Serena, moving over to her as Kinaga moved to be next to Marius. He knelt down next to her, his black eyes sympathetic and serious. "If you need to step out or want me to take you home, just let me know." He'd probably just give her his car keys, because he had no intentions of going home tonight. If need be he'd call out of work too. He glanced over to Marius and Kinaga. Damn, he didn't think it'd be this bad. He didn't think Marius would be rolled in looking like that. At least the guy was alive, right?

Marius could barely hear the world around him. He was unconscious for the most part, but every now and again he'd regain conscious for a brief moment. Just long enough to get a glimpse of where he was, to see Kinaga's blurred features and some other people he couldn't recognize from a distance before sleep overwhelmed him. The medicine was helping, but he wanted painkillers, and not to get high off of either. He'd hit an all time low, but he'd never wanted to go back to drugs. It had been stupid and impulsive and he regretted it. If only he could say as much to his best friend, who's hands were wrapped around his own. It was comforting, more comforting than Kinaga would ever know.

Tobias got to the hospital and after a long, heated discussion with the person at the front desk, he finally got the room number. The woman had claimed that too many people were already in Marius' room, but he'd be persistent as hell. He didn't think Marius' mother had made it all the way from Shibuya, but he was sure Kinaga was at least one of the three people who was in the room. The other two were probably other coworkers, maybe.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Merciful Overlord Thu Feb 23, 2017 1:10 am

Serena looked up towards Roy when he came over and told her he would take her home if she wanted to leave. She smiled lightly and put a hand on his shoulder, her thumb rubbing over him gently. "I'll be fine, Roy. It doesn't bother me like it used to." She leaned forward and kissed his cheek lightly. "Still such a gentleman." Her and Roy were closer than just friends, but neither one of them was interested in dating the other. At least, not that she knew of. He made a wonderful friend and she didn't want to make the mistake of losing him by dating him or making their relationship anything more serious than what it was now. "Besides, they need us here. I'm not going to leave you to look after both of them." The purple haired female looked back over to Marius and tried not to cringe. God, was that how she had looked when she'd gone under? So pale, and frail, and in pain? She remembered the pain all too well. Just like Marius, her doctors hadn't wanted to put painkillers in her system either. The dry heaving had been the worst of it, but that had been after everything had finally come up and out. She didn't miss that life at all.

Kinaga kept Marius's hand held in his own. "I'm here," he told the other male quietly. "It's Kinny..." He took a shaky breath and leaned forward, holding Marius's hand to his forehead. "God I'm so glad you're alive," he breathed. "I don't think I could have stood losing you too..." He wouldn't have been able to deal with it. That would have been it for him, he just knew it. If he lost Marius...he would just lose his mind to the grief. At that point, Kinaga knew he probably wouldn't have cared how he did it. A gun wasn't hard to come by if you knew where to look, and in a hospital there was medicine everywhere if you knew how to get to it. Shisu would have been upset with him for it, but he wouldn't be able to live in a world like this alone. Kinaga had long since stopped speaking to his family, and the teachers at Roulette High were barely more than work acquaintances. None of them cared to hang out outside of work. Anyone Kinaga had ever made friends with outside of work lived halfway across the world, and moving there simply wasn't an option. Losing Marius would have been...losing all he had left to cling to in this world. "I-I know it hurts now, but you'll make it th-through, alright Mar..?" He was well aware that Serena and Roy were still in the room, which was why he was talking quietly. Whispering, almost. Roy could have his time with Marius, but for now Kinaga just...he just didn't want to leave his best friend's side. Not while he was still unconscious.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Thu Feb 23, 2017 1:12 pm

Roy knew Serena's background. Hell, their first meeting he'd told her point blank that he had no intentions of giving her drug money. If this had been a less serious situation he might have laughed at the memory because they'd ended up at his house that night. He felt her kiss upon his cheek and he kissed her back, on the cheek. "I do my best," he said with a small smile when she called him a gentleman. He glanced at the two friends behind him. They did need someone more than each other right now. Kinaga looked like he was on the verge of a breakdown which was completely reasonable and then there was Marius who was fighting for his life. His gaze then shifted to the door as there was movement. The dark haired male looked at the male in the door. This guy was almost the same height as him with black hair and dark blue eyes that were almost black. Had Kinaga called another of Marius' friends? It hadn't occurred to him that the guy's ex would be ballsy enough to show up to the hospital.

Tobias walked up to the room, and completely wrote off Roy and Serena, thinking the two were a couple since they'd just been kissing cheeks. His eyes landed on Kinaga and then Marius. To say he didn't feel anything would have been a complete and utter lie. He knocked on the door lightly. "Kinaga....did he start using drugs again?" The egotistical bastard didn't consider that he'd driven Marius to this point. He had no consideration for the pink haired male's feelings. He knew what Marius wanted and he gave him sex and whispered sweet promises and then left until the next time. It'd been happening for about three weeks now. It was fun to him, but he didn't know that it was completely destroying Marius. Why would it, when he was putting the pieces back together?

Kinaga had tuned out Serena and Roy's conversation, but when he heard Tobias's voice, he froze. Kinaga tensed and slowly sat up, looking over to the black haired male. For a second he wasn't sure if he was seeing right. Had this guy seriously..? How had he even found Marius? Kinaga was sure he hadn't told anyone but Serena. The blue haired male was quiet for a moment and slowly let go of Marius's hand, standing up. "You need to leave, Tobias," he told the other male, his voice shaking lightly. "You need to leave, and you need to stay the hell away from Marius." His voice wasn't shaking from fear. Kinaga wasn't normally a violent or angry man, but he knew of no other reason why Marius would have done this. He knew of no other reason why the pink haired male would have gone this far. And that. That was enough to piss him off.

Serena looked past Roy when she saw someone walk in, tilting her head. Who was that? Obviously not a doctor or nurse. She looked to Kinaga when he spoke, her eyes widening and turning back to the stranger who'd just walked in. "Are you fucking kidding me," she growled. Had this son of a bitch really come to see the damage he'd done?

Tobias blinked, feigning innocence, although he didn't consider himself guilty to begin with. He held his hands up in defense. "Hang on, you can't make me leave. I'm here to make sure he's alright. Marius and I have been together for longer than you two have been friends. I do care for him despite what you believe," he said softly. He looked to the woman who'd taken it upon herself to run her mouth. "I don't know you lady, so I'd appreciate it if you butt out." He kept his voice even, but it was clear he didn't appreciate her voicing her opinions of him out loud. He didn't bother with the guy who was still kneeling, but that might have just been his biggest threat.

Roy's expression went from curious to blank, like all the emotion had just drained from his face. This was Tobias? Marius' ex? The one who'd Kinaga said had probably been abusing him? He glanced to Serena when she spoke and gently squeezed her knee reassuringly before he slowly got up. He looked to Tobias. "You need to leave."

Tobias shook his head, he was still walking further into the room. "I don't know you either man, but Marius and I have history and I ain't leaving."

Roy looked from Serena to Kinaga then back to Tobias, before he shoved the other male back and against the wall. A six inch switchblade in his hands, pressed against the other male's lower ribs. "I wasn't asking," he replied, voice still even. It took more self control than he wanted to admit not to shove that blade into Tobias. He wanted this bastard to hurt like Marius was hurting. One wrong move and he might just deliver.

Kinaga's hands clenched lightly when Tobias said that he couldn't make him leave. "I will if I have to. You've already done enough damage, he doesn't need to see you here," he growled. Or, as much of a growl as someone with Kinaga's natural demeanor could. His hands clenched into actual fists when Tobias told him they'd been together for longer than him and Marius had been friends, and that he cared about the other male. "Yeah, well the difference between you and me is that I didn't leave him alone and upset for a year. I didn't abandon him, you did."

Serena looked to Roy when he squeezed her knee, but she still stood up the moment he left her side. However, she didn't get very far before Roy had the bastard against the wall, with a knife pressed to his ribs. If she didn't know Roy would get into some serious shit for it, she would have told him to just do it. She went to walk forward, but stopped dead when Kinaga walked up next to Roy.

"Leave. I'm not letting you near Marius again. Not after what you did. Not after what you caused him to do," Kinaga said, glancing back to Marius. "Whether you know it or not. This is your fault. I'm not going to let you keep hurting him like this." Kinaga wasn't the type to make threats, but the fact that he wasn't stopping Roy from using that knife probably spoke volumes about what he was willing to allow if it meant keeping Tobias away from his best friend.

The Darkest Hour Empty Re: The Darkest Hour

Post by The Godfather Fri Feb 24, 2017 2:59 am

Tobias looked between the two men, the façade slowly slipping away, especially considering that someone had a knife pressed against his ribs. "Oh, so that's what this is about? Okay, I get it," he said, dropping his hands to his side. "Believe what you want, but remember what I said, Marius and I have known each other longer. He says I just walked out, but did he tell you why? Or did he just cry and sob, saying I walked out without a word? If I did, do you even care why? Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe I'm not the bad guy here?" He looked between the two of them and then started laughing. "Oh man, this is rich, you don't know do you? Marius claims he was head over heels for me, but I didn't realize that fucking everything that moved while you were in love was a thing." He nodded his head towards the unconscious man. "I asked him to stop, I wanted to give him the world and I apparently wasn't good enough, so when he's calling your name while you're fucking him senseless, just remember he's only using you. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that one of you are screwing him, or maybe both of you. Wouldn't be the first time. I just figured I'd give you fair warning since he's such a bleeding fucking heart in your eyes." He shook his head. "I didn't drive him to this, he did this to himself. You think because he gives you a charming smile and bats his lashes that he's perfect, but you don't know a thing about Marius. I didn't hurt him!" The anger was oh so real. "It's not my fault that he's a goddamn nympho. It's not my fault that he's fucking delusional. Why don't you mind your own damn business!?"

Roy had history. Everyone had their skeletons in the closet, and while his may not have been a long standing relationship with drugs, it wasn't much better. He'd served time for his skeletons, and old habits died hard. It wasn't exactly a habit, but it was moments like this that brought back the less appealing years of his life. He listened to Kinaga and Tobias talk. When Tobias seemed to loose his cool, Roy took a moment to rethink what he wanted to do and what he should do. He slowly backed away from Tobias, pocketing the blade.

Tobias took that as a sign of weakness. "But since you two think you know everything, I imagine he's spewed some bullshit story of what I 'did'." He said, adding air quotes. "What'd he say? That I fucked him so good that he can't help but keep coming back for more? That he loves me? That he wants me back? That I'm his world? That I do it best? That I give it to him so good that he begs for second and thirds. That he's like my own person bitch. That whenever I sa-" He was cut off as Roy's fist connected with his nose. He stumbled back into the wall and slid to the ground, hands grasping his face, blood seeping through his fingers.

Roy wanted to break the guy's jaw, but he settled for the nose. He really didn't want any charges pressed against him tonight, but if he had to hear one more degrading thing about Marius he'd kill Tobias. The guy was lucky he hadn't jumped him and continued with an onslaught of punches. He glanced to the door to see if anyone had saw, but the hall was empty and Tobias didn't seem keen on making a big scene, despite his quiet whimpers. "Who's the bitch now," Roy asked, his black eyes narrowed with anger. He was really displaying some serious self-control. He glanced back to Marius. Why had he ever been in love with this piece of shit? He flexed his hand a few times. It'd be sore, but it was worth it.

He didn't want to hear it. The fact of the matter was that Tobias was screwing with Marius's head. Kinaga wasn't entirely sure just what was happening between Marius and Tobias anymore, but even if what Tobias said was true...that just meant that Tobias was getting revenge on Marius for it, and Kinaga wasn't going to sit by and let it happen. Still...the blue haired male glanced to Marius. He understood that the guy was a nymphomanic, but...he claimed to love Tobias so dearly. Had he really cheated on him? With multiple people, if the black haired male wasn't lying. Once all this was said and done with, he'd have to ask Marius what really happened. He didn't want to take Tobias's word for it. "But you came back to him." It wasn't a question, and it wasn't an accusation. It was a flat fact that Kinaga stated when Tobias said that it wasn't his fault. When Roy backed off, blue eyes watched his best friend's ex, but narrowed when Tobias started running his mouth about Marius. "You son of a-" he growled, starting forward towards the other male. Before he could do something he would later regret, he felt Serena grab his arm just as Roy punched Tobias. Kinaga couldn't remember the last time he'd been so angry at another person. But with Serena holding onto his arm, he didn't move forward, just glared at Tobias. "Get. Out. Tobias."

Tobias looked up at Kinaga, a glare on his face despite his broken nose. "You're going to regret this," he said, pain edging his voice. "You think this over, it's not. Marius has been mine since the start and I'll be damned if I let you just butt in and take that away from me." He then looked to Roy. "You're lucky I don't press charges against you," he threatened. That made Roy smiled and he knelt down next to the bleeding man and whispered in his ear. "I've been charged with far worse. Don't tempt me to take a trip down memory lane. Now do as Kinaga said and get out. If I ever catch you around Marius again, not a single person will be able to save you." He stood up. The temptation to kick him in the face was there, but he stepped back, waiting for the other male to leave.

When Tobias finally got up off the ground, he scurried away like a dog with its tail between its legs. Tobias wouldn't be visiting again any time soon, but this wasn't over. This was far from over. He did however stop to get his nose reset before leaving the hospital all together. They had just declared war against him. He'd make them pay.
