Felix took the three to the Open and into a nice little restaurant. It was fairly busy, but Felix found them a table in the back. He took a seat and looked to the three. "So you guys choose what you want," he said. "I have more than enough money to pay for it." He gave a small grin. They didn't have any clue what he was talking about, but who cared? Felix looked at his menu and then paused. What exactly did he want? He wasn't really hungry, but he knew he should eat, since he'd failed to do so this morning and the day before.

Tamero took a seat and looked at the menu. Anything he wanted eh? Tamero gave a tiny smile and searched the menu. He wanted a pizza! With lots of olives and mushrooms and pepperoni. Tamero sat his menu down and looked to Renji and Kana, wondering if they'd made up their mind yet.

Kana looked at their mentor when he said that they should get whatever they wanted, because he had enough to pay for it. She was gonna be a strong ninja so that one day she had lots of money too, and she could eat three meals a day and be able to buy weapons and medicine! Giving a smile, the young blond girl looked over the menu. Almost immediately she spotted what she wanted. A hamburger and cola. The hamburger even came with fries too!

Renji looked over the menu quietly. Hmm...he was kinda in the mood for pizza. With pepperoni. And sausage. Yeps, that was his favorite kind of pizza by far. Whenever him and his brother ordered pizza, they always got that kind. He looked at Kana and Tamero, both of who seemed to have made up their minds. It was actually kinda funny, cuz Kana looked pretty happy. He almost frowned when he remembered that she didn't have parents to take her out like this. He wondered if she had other family she lived with.

When the waiter came over, Felix had still yet to decided what he wanted to eat. Blue eyes quickly scanned over the menu. "Oyakodon and water," Felix stated without looking up. He closed his menu and slid it to the edge of the table.

Tamero was happy enough to reveal his order. "Pizza, with lots of olives and mushrooms and pepperoni," he said witha nod. "Oh and can I get tea please," he asked. Tamero was a lover of pizza and most fast food, which was probably why he was taijutsu specialist so he wouldn't end up gaining too much weight.

Renji closed his menu when the waiter came up. "Can I get pizza as well, but only with pepperoni and sausage," he asked with a small smile. "And a water please." He didn't usually drink much besides water. Even milk was something he didn't drink too often.

Kana looked to the waiter, waiting until the boys and their sensei placed their orders before speaking. "A hamburger and coke please," she said, trying not to smile too much. She didn't remember the last time she'd eaten out with someone. Last time it had been by herself at a ramen place for dinner. Ramen was fairly cheap, so she usually went to a small ramen restaurant by herself. It was nice to be out with other people.

The waiter nodded and headed off. Felix looked at his three students. "While we're waiting on our food, I believe we should talk about your first mission," the silver haired jonin stated. "In fact, I think we should also choose the Squad Captain while we're at it." Felix's blue eyes shinned. "You have three mission choices, all which are D-Ranked. One, you can clean out the lake in the open," he stated. "Two, you can help clean up the Ramen restaurant in the center of the village. Three, you can babysit one of the villager's triplets." Felix looked at the three of them. "As for the Captain, you three can discuss that amongst yourselves. It'll be up to your three and then from there, we can choose a mission."

Tamero blinked. Was their sensei serious? They had to choose the squad captain? He looked at Kana and Renji and then back to Felix. He wasn't going to say anything because he wanted to see what they would say first. Although he came up with plans out of thin air, he wasn't much of a leader. Kana and Renji would be way better for the job.

Renji looked at their sensei when he started talking, about their first mission and squad captain. "I...always thought it was the sensei that chose the squad captain..." the black haired boy said, looking amongst his teammates. He didn't really want to choose a squad leader. Didn't want to hurt anyone with his opinion. He believed that Kana was too hot-headed to be squad leader. Tamero had helped him out, and stayed by him, even though the white haired boy had been afraid to jump too. And he...well, Renji himself wasn't sure he could handle being captain of anything.

Kana looked at Renji. He was right. She wanted to say something about the missions, how she wanted to take the one at the ramen shop, but choosing squad captain came first. "...I think Renji should be squad captain." She paused. "Sorry Tamero..." She didn't know why she was apologizing. Both of them had helped her out when she needed it, but Renji had been the one to help both of them by going through the swinging axes alone. The black haired boy had helped Renji to the top of the wall when the spike had gone through his arm. He'd helped them both out of tight spots, and Kana knew that she herself had too many flaws to be put in the position of captain. Though she wanted to do something, anything, that would have made her parents proud, she didn't want to put the others in danger if she wasn't ready to take lead.

(I wish Kana would have said that aloud. God only knows how proud Felix would have been.)

Tamero looked at Kana when she spoke. "No apologies necessary," he said cheerfully. "I was thinking about Renji being Captain as well, but I didn't want to say anything first." Tamero knew that sounded bad on his part, but honesty was the best policy in his book.

Felix shrugged when Renji pointed out the obvious. "We do, but since this is a team effort, I let the members of the team pick. Occasionally I do intervene and suggest a better decision, but it's all up to you guys in the end." He looked to Renji. "You've been chosen kiddo, but are you okay with that?" He asked. His blue eyes meeting Renji's red ones. Felix was more than willing to hold off on making a captain. He didn't have to file any paperwork if they waited. Felix was no fan of paperwork, which was one of the many reasons he'd held off from becoming an ANBU. He'd been asked many times why he remained a jonin, but Felix had reasons that he didn't care to share with others.

(Unfortunately, that would have been far too easy.)

Renji swallowed lightly when both Kana and Tamero suggested that he should be squad captain. That was just peachy. He hadn't realized it, but he had been taking lead quite a lot during their first session of training. He'd done so much to ensure his spot on the team. He'd even fought with Tamia. The black haired boy looked at their sensei when he asked if he was okay with it. He wasn't entirely sure, to be honest. "I...I dunno. I mean...I'm only twelve. Even though we're only on D-ranked missions right now...well, what happens when we get to C ranked?" He gave a small sigh. "Do...I have to decide right now?"

Kana looked at Renji after their sensei asked. She was kinda wondering if he was thinking the same thing she'd been thinking about herself. "I think you'd be a better captain than me or Tamero would, if it means anything," she said, almost quietly. And then a pause before she looked to Tamero. "Er, no offense." She didn't know why she kept doing that, if Tamero had agreed with her to begin with.

Felix shook his head. "No, you don't have to choose right now. Just don't take too long. By the time you get your first C-Ranked mission, you'll need to chose, or I'll do so for you," he said. The meaner Felix would have said something like, 'You don't think you have what it takes to be Captain then you don't have what it takes to be on this team. Don't bother showing up tomorrow.' Felix took the best and only the best. People who backed down were cowards, but as Izua said, he had to remember that not everyone was like him. In fact, he was supposed to stop people from becoming like him. "Anyway, let's pick a mission for you three."

Tamero smiled when Kana said no offense. He didn't see what the point of apologizing was, but hey, if she wanted to, he couldn't tell her no. He looked at Renji. "You'd do fine. You handled the team like a champ during our training the other day," he said. Tamero then looked to Felix when the guy spoke of their mission again. Once more he looked to his teammates for an answer.

Re: First Encounter

Kana again looked to their sensei when he said they should pick a mission. "So...I'm...not really good with smaller kids," she admitted, looking to the side almost sheepishly. She really wasn't. She didn't think she could handle babysitting. "But if we cleaned up the Ramen shop, we'd be helping the owner out, and if we clean up the lake, maybe we can find cool stuff," she said, speaking out for once. She didn't mean to speak out like she was trying to suddenly be leader, but she thought that they should talk it over. "And...cleaning the lake can give you practice in swimming," she told Tamero.

Renji blinked, looking at Kana when she started speaking. Those were rather well-thought out reasons, at least for the lake and ramen shop. He knew he shouldn't really think it, but maybe the owner would give them free ramen too, for helping out. Maybe Kana had thought of that too, but just hadn't said anything. He wasn't gonna either. "I like the idea of cleaning the lake out and helping Tamero with swimming," he agreed with a nod. He hadn't really thought of Kana as being too bright before now. Then again, all he'd seen of her before now was stubbornness and how hot-headed she was.

Tamero gave a small smile. "You guys don't have to pick a mission to help me out," he said waving his hands in front of him. He was clearly still nervous about swimming. "Why not clean out the Ramen shop. I mean, it'll be helping out our village in general." He gave an even tinier smile. "And besides, I'm sure they could use extra hands, so they won't have to stop their work. It's almost the holidays after all." (Christmas we'll say.) Tamero was excited for the holidays because that meant he'd be going to the Village Hidden in the Mist to see his grandparents and cousins.

Felix looked between the three as they each spoke. He didn't care what they chose. He just had to tag along and make sure they were doing the job correctly. His blue eyes looked around the restaurant when Tamero mentioned the holidays. Oh yeah, Felix didn't care for holidays. He didn't celebrate the holidays, mostly because he had no one to celebrate and other things that added on to that. However, he did allow his students that time off to be with family. He looked back to the kids, wondering if he'd missed anything important.

Kana looked at Tamero as he told them they didn't have to pick the one that would help him. "Yeah, but we should, shouldn't we?" She paused when Tamero said that the ramen shop could use some extra hands. She was trying not to let on about how much she wanted to do that mission. She didn't want to push. "Oh yeah, the holidays are coming up, aren't they? I never really keep track," she said with a light smile. Of course, she didn't really have a reason to keep track. "Maybe then it would be better to help at the ramen shop."

Renji smiled, trying not to chuckle at what Tamero said. He was probably still scared about swimming, like Renji was still afraid of jumping. He looked to Kana as she said she didn't really keep track, and again didn't really catch on to what she was saying. Sometimes he forgot that she was an orphan. "So...we help at the ramen shop then?" he asked, looking between his teammates.

Tamero gave a nod. "It sounds like that," he said. He wondered why Kana didn't keep track of the holidays. It was the best time of the entire year. His brain was drawn away from the thoughts when he saw the waiter coming with their food. Tamero happily took his meal and dug right in. His eyes shinned. "This is soooooo good," he spoke as he savored the taste. "I must take some of this home," he stated.

Re: First Encounter

Post by Cross on Thu Nov 22, 2012 10:03 pm

Kana looked to the waiter as he came up, her eyes practically shining. She didn't remember the last time she'd gone out to have a meal like this, even if it was small compared to most normal meals. The burger was bigger than she was used to, but there was no way she was complaining. Before she started eating, she clapped her hands together lightly, so as to not make too much noise. "Itadakimasu," she said with a large smile before she started eating. She'd been taught that things like that were common courtesy, even if most of the village didn't know what it meant. What it really was was thanking the person who bought or made the food, and the gods. Not that Kana actually believed in any gods. If they existed, they wouldn't have taken her parents away. "Me too," she said with a chuckle after she'd taken a couple bites.

Renji was glad that they'd gotten their mission chosen. And just in time for food to come too! Though he hadn't really done much in training today, he was still fairly hungry. He didn't say anything as he ate though. While he talked to his brother all the time when they ate, it wasn't something he liked doing in public.

Tamero looked at Kana whens he clapped her hands and said something he didn't understand. "What's Ita...uh, whatever you just said," he asked curiously. He'd never heard that before and it was quiet weird, and annoying hard to pronounce. He could only imagine how one would spell such a complex word. Still, he dug into his meal without much thought and occasionally sipped from his tea. Oh he would forever be grateful to Felix.

Felix thanked the waiter for the food. He looked at Kana when she spoke and then to Tamero. "It means thank you for the food," he enlightened the small boy. Felix then looked at his food. "Itadakimasu," he said quietly. He then started into his own food, taking note that the kids were going to help with the Ramen shop. He was wondering if they should continue training after this. He'd probably let them off for the rest of the day, so they'd be ready for tomorrow's mission.

Kana looked to Tamero when he asked, but then her gaze shot straight to their sensei when he said explained, swallowing her food and then grinning. "You know what it means," she said, her brown eyes shining. Aside from her parents, she didn't know anyone who knew what it meant, even though she always said it anyways.

Renji blinked as Kana said...something, not in english. He didn't know what it meant either, so he was glad that Tamero asked. "What language is that?" he asked, his head tilted a bit, before he took another bite of his pizza. He'd never heard anything like it before. Renji briefly wondered where Kana's family was from.

Felix nodded. "It's Japanese," he told Renji. "And I'm very fluent in it," he told Kana. Just a bit of FYI for the young genin. He then took another bit of his food. Yeah, he was going to let them go after this. Besides, he had to turn this paper in and then see if he had any missions of his own that needed to be handled. Felix really did miss going on the higher ranking missions. It meant he was allowed to do as he pleased. Real missions that meant showing his skills, not cleaning up restaurants.

Kana couldn't help but to smile when their sensei told Renji it was Japanese, and that he was fluent in it. She wasn't entirely fluent in it, but she spoke a lot. Her parents had raised her speaking both. She spoke Japanese only a little less fluently than she spoke English. Deciding not to say anything else, Kana started on her fries, since her burger was already halfway gone.

Renji looked fairly interested when their sensei said he was fluent in another language. That was pretty cool! "Hey Kana, can you speak Japanese well?" he asked curiously. When she nodded at him, he smiled. "Man, that's cool. I wish I could speak another language."

Tamero smiled. "Man, you guys are awesome," he admired. "If I could speak another language I would be thrilled." Tamero took another bite out of his pizza. "So sensei, when does our mission start?" He asked. Just to continue with a conversation. Eating in silence was weird. "Oh, Kana, where'd you learn to speak Japanese? Are you Japanese?" He leaned forward curiously.

Felix looked at Tamero. "From the paper that I received, it said 7 in the morning," he answered. "And the job is suppose to last all day, but with you three on the job, I'm going to say it'll end sooner than expected. If not then don't complain. You'll be getting paid for this. Don't ask how much because I won't tell you. You'll find out when you turn in the mission form, after the mission is complete."

Kana looked at Tamero when he asked her where she learned to speak Japanese, and was silent for a moment. "I learned from my dad," she told him. No mention of past tense, or anything that would indicate anything was wrong with the question he'd asked. She looked towards their sensei as he explained the mission. She wouldn't mind working there all day if she had to, especially since she'd be getting paid for it.

Renji paused in eating his pizza at Tamero's question, looking to Kana with a light frown. He wondered why she didn't tell Tamero. Either way, it wasn't really his business to tell or inquire about it. Maybe she actually didn't want people to know.

"That's cool," Tamero spoke as he swallowed the last of his slice. "Wish my dad would teach me something every now and then," Tamero complained. Felix said nothing on the matter. Mostly because he couldn't bring himself to care. He'd never met Kana's parents, only heard about them. If she didn't tell people about being an orphan, who was he to bring it up and let her teammate know? Felix continued eating. "By the way, you guys can go home after this," he told them. "Meet me at the Ramen shop no later than six-thirty."

Kana ate her burger silently after that, at least until their sensei stated that they could go home after this. She blinked and looked at him. They hadn't finished their training though. "Thanks sensei," she said, nodding when he told them what time to meet at the ramen shop.

Renji looked at Tamero when the other boy said he wished his dad would teach him something. He didn't know much about the white haired boy's dad, so he couldn't say anything. "What's the name of the restaurant, sensei?" Renji asked. He was sure it couldn't just be called the Ramen shop. There were a couple ramen shops in town, but he didn't usually go to any of them, so he wasn't familiar with them, which meant he'd have to ask his brother where it was.

Felix looked at Renji when the young boy asked the name of the restaurant. That would be helpful wouldn't it. God he was terrible at this. "Hachiban Ramen," Felix responded. "It shouldn't be too hard to fine." He then waved the waiter over for the check and to ask for to go boxes since he'd heard Kana and Tamero say they were taking their stuff home. When the waiter left, Felix looked at his watch. His blue eyes lazily looked around the restaurant. Felix wasn't a person to sit around for long periods of time.

Renji nodded when their sensei told them the name of the restaurant. He'd heard of it before. It wasn't long after that Renji had his pizza finished. He didn't really like taking food home. Mostly because if he put it in the fridge, his brother would eat it. So yeah, he didn't like taking good food home.

When boxes were put on the table, Kana ate a few more of her fries before she put the rest of her food in a box. "I know the place," she said with a nod. "The owner's pretty nice," she told them. She hoped that they weren't going to be nervous about this just because it was their first real mission. All they were really doin was helping out at a restaurant. Now their first C-ranked mission was something she'd be a little worried about.

Tamero nodded in agreement. "I know where it is too," he said as he put away his food and then slipped out of his seat. Stretching his looked at his team. "See you guys tomorrow," he said. He looked to Kana. "I hope they're as nice as you say, I'd hate to fail my first mission because I don't know how to clean properly," he joked. Turning to Felix he bowed. "Thank you for lunch Sensei." He then headed off. He couldn't wait to tell his parents and his sisters about his sensei's change of heart.

Felix nodded as Tamero said goodbye and thanked him for lunch. Felix then got up, and searched his pockets for cash. He usually only kept a few dollars on him at a time. Placing the money on the table and leaving a nice little tip, Felix looked at the remaining students. "See you tomorrow," he said with a shrug.
