Orphanage Tour Empty Orphanage Tour

Post by The Godfather Sun Mar 10, 2013 8:31 pm

Mori waved goodbye to Felix and Kymin then smiled when Lain turned to him and said she was ready for the tour. "Alright then, let's get this thing started." He pointed to the dining room. "First off is the dinning room where everyone eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Generally snacks are eaten whenever and wherever the children choose as long as they clean up after themselves. Next to the dining room is the kitchen when can be accessed through the door, but you already know that. It's where everything is cooked and where all the food is stored." Mori let Lain take this all in before he exited into the hall. "This hall leads to several different places including the bathrooms, the side stairs, the tv and game room, as well as the front entrance where you all came in through." He gave a smile. "You got all that," he asked.

Lain smiled when Mori started showing her around, following him and trying to memorize everything he was telling her. She'd never been too good at memorization, but she was sure she'd get the hang of it eventually. She nodded when he pointed out the kitchen, and then again when he pointed out the other parts of the orphanage. When he paused and asked if she got it all, she took a moment to look around before nodding and giving a small smile. "I think so. I'll get used to it the more I hang around here," she said, scratching her head a bit. She was a little tired, but she was trying not to yawn, because that would be rude. "There's a lot of kids here," she mentioned offhandedly. "I don't think I'd be able to manage it all by myself. I mean...I know you said there's two others, but they're not here after dinner, so you have to put them all to bed all by yourself, right?" she asked, her head tilted slightly.

Mori smiled when she said she got some of it. He was going to tell her it wasn't that she'd get it eventually, but Lain was clearly way ahead of him. "Yeah, I put them all to bed, but it's not as bad as it sounds. The younger ones usually wear themselves out so they don't mind going to sleep. As for the older ones, like I said they go to bed on their own." He shrugged. "Sometimes the older kids will help out the little ones. I'm currently in the process of trying to set up a buddy system." He smiled. "Little ones with the older ones. Especially when new kids come in. It's easier to adjust and get around when you have an older person to guide you. It also helps to make sure no one gets left out."

Lain smiled when Mori explained that sometimes the older kids helped. "I know I said it before, but they all seem so nice and well-behaved. I mean...aren't there even a few troublemakers?" she asked. It was strange to her that there didn't seem to be any. Didn't all orphanages have at least one or two oddballs? Or was she just basing these incorrect judgements off too many movie nights? "A buddy system, huh? Like those Big brother Big sister program things? Or maybe that didn't make it to this village," she mused. "But that's really smart," she corrected, a bit embarrassed by her mumbling.

Mori smirked. "Eheh, well, there are a few trouble makers," he said honestly. "Don't worry though, they at least behave during breakfast, lunch, and dinner." He cleared his throat. "Aside from a few food fights." Mori's ear twitched at the memory. Just last week there had been one. Usually he'd tell Felix and the guy would handle it, but that was not the case there when it had happened. Mori then grinned. "Oh, the Big Brother, Big Sister program hasn't made it here, but that would be nice. Having kids outside the orphanage partner with the ones inside would give them a chance to branch out and meet new people." He crossed his arms. "Maybe I should talk to someone about that."

Lain smiled when he said there were a few trouble makers. "I'd have been a bit suspicious if there weren't any," she giggled, her tail flicking behind her playfully. Another, smaller giggle, escaped her, when his ear flicked when he mentioned a food fight. "Maybe we could get that started," she smiled, brightening when he said he would talk to someone about that. "I mean, I know the basics, I was part of that program back home for a short while," she said, her ears perking up excitedly.

"I want to hug you right now but I'll respect your space," he said with a smile. If she'd be willing to help him start a program here then he'd be more than happy. His eyes shined and he flicked his tail behind him. "Let me finish showing you around," he said. He led her down the hall into the main entrance. "This is where I sit most of the time," he said. "Mainly because I like to greet everyone when they walk through the door and it's easy to see all the kids from here." He smirked. "Also, the doors are closed and locked by 6pm unless all the kids are not accounted for. I had tags lining the door to make sure no one goes in and out without my knowledge."

Lain giggled softly when Mori said he wanted to hug her, blushing a bit and scratching the side of her ear, more out of nervous habit than anything. "Okay," she nodded. She followed the other neko around and listened, looking around as they went. The halls really were kinda boring. She'd fix that though. She looked back to Mori, her head tilted as he mentioned something lining the door. "Tags?" she asked curiously.

"Yeah, they're like mini alarm systems and hidden under a jutsu," he said. He flicked his tail. "Similar to the one that I use to hide my tail. I'm not a ninja, but I know some of the basics thanks to Felix. You have no idea how many times this jutsu has saved my tail." He smiled and flicked his tail to the stairs. "Up there are the kids room and some more bathrooms. There's also a balcony up there that lets you see out over the courtyard." He looked to Lain. "Want to go up there, or are you good," he asked.

Lain looked to the door when Mori explained. "Is it really so easy to learn jutsu?" she asked curiously. "I always thought it was supposed to be really difficult," she mused. She giggled when he mentioned how the jutsu saved his tail. "I just wrap mine around my waist when I don't want it to be seen," she mentioned, looking to the stairs when he pointed there. "A balcony?" she questioned, looking up there, her brown eyes blinking. "Yeah, I wanna go up," she nodded with a smile. "I learn better through sight anyways," she said, her tail flicking restlessly a couple times.

Mori shook his head quickly. "It is difficult," he said. "Nerve wrecking if you ask me. I just learned how to do this," he said. "Took me a year and half to get it right and it still appears when I get too excited." When Lain mentioned how she wrapped her tail around her waist he put his hand to his face. "Why didn't I think of that?" He shook his head. "Oh man, it's such a simple solution too." Mori smiled when she agreed to go up to the balcony. "Follow me," he said as he walked up the stairs and then headed straight down the hall to the back where two doors opened up into the balcony. He unlocked the doors and then opened them, letting Lain past before he joined her. "Pretty cool huh?"

Lain blinked when he said it is difficult, smiling when he mentioned how it still appears when he gets excited. Hadn't it appeared out of nowhere when he'd first met her earlier? She giggled lightly when he put his hand to his face, but said nothing about that. She only shrugged playfully. Nodding, the brown haired neko girl followed Mori up to the balcony, looking around as he unlocked the doors. When she walked out, she found that her breath caught a bit. She'd known it was night time, but "I've never seen the moon look so big," she whispered. "It's so pretty," she said with a smile. "Does it always look like that?" she asked, turning to look at Mori with shining eyes.

Mori's tail curled behind him when Lain spoke. He gave a small chuckle and leaned against the railing. "Yeps," he said. "We're the Crested." He looked at her from the corner of his eye. "Just wait until the full moon," he said. "You'll be even more impressed." He then looked back to the moon. "We also hold festivals and things like during the full moon." He smiled. "I could take you to one if you'd like," he offered. His ears twitched underneath his hat.

Lain put her hands on the railing, her eyes turning back to the moon. Something about the moon had always attracted her. Maybe it was just the way it glowed in the darkness, or maybe it was the light it gave off when she'd needed it most. "It's better than this during the full moon?" she questioned, turning to look at him. Her eyes lit up at the mention of a festival and she quickly nodded. "I'd like that a lot," she smiled excitedly. She felt like a kitten again, but she really couldn't help it. "We had festivals back in my town, but they were mostly seasonal," she smiled. "Even if most of the seasons were cold," she giggled softly.

Mori smiled. "I didn't even know the Snow had seasons," he said. "But yeah, it gets better." He tilted his head upwards. "So, um, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?" It came out of the blue. He knew that, but he was curious. "I'm twenty-seven," he said. "Even though I look like a kid." He wasn't going to explain because he was sure Felix had informed her, but Lain looked young, even for a neko. He didn't want to find out he was flirting with a teenager, that would be awkward. His tail uncurled and he looked down into the courtyard.

Lain laughed lightly when Mori said he didn't know the Snow had seasons. "We're just a little south of the Snow, so we get the occasional summer," she joked. "Hm?" Her ear twitched lightly and she smiled. "Twenty-one next month," she told him. "Felix told me that he used an illusion on you, to make you look younger. I think it's smart, because kids don't mind going to talk to other kids," she smiled happily. Even though they were out here to look at the courtyard (or in her case, the moon), she couldn't help but blush when she found herself staring at Mori instead, and she quickly turned her gaze away, tail flicking in nervous embarrassment.

Mori smirked. "Oh yeah, you are from the Snowflake." He then raised a brow as she stated that she was twenty. "You're young," he said. He then gave a small chuckle. "Happy early birthday, tell me what day so I can get you a present." He turned to look at Lain only to find her looking at him. His smile brightened and he tilted his head to face her. "So, how about we head back inside and finish this tour. You've got to be exhausted after that long trip." He didn't care if they stayed here or went back inside. The night was nice and he was enjoying this quiet time with Lain.

Lain nodded lightly when Mori remembered aloud that she was from the Snowflake. She grinned lightly. "And you're old," she said playfully, sticking her tongue out at him with a small giggle. It was only then that a yawn caught her off guard, revealing her sharp canine's briefly before she managed to cover her mouth. "The twenty-second," she said, wiping one of her eyes with an embarrassed smile. "Just a little bit," she nodded, when he mentioned that she was probably tired. She really was, but she'd been enjoying being with Mori, so she hadn't really noticed until now. "Lead the way," she smiled, stepping back into the orphanage so that Mori could lock the doors back up.

Mori smiled when the other neko called him old. "Heh, I may be old but I look good for my age." He couldn't help the chuckle that drew from him. When Lain yawned he grinned. "How about I show you to your room instead." He was kind of tired too. It had been a pretty long day and he was looking forward to some sleep before he had to get up and get everyone ready for school. Mori's job was a twenty-four seven job, but that was fine by him. He enjoyed every moment of it. Now that Lain was here he'd be able to enjoy the company of someone he liked while doing that job. Talk about a double whammy.

Lain laughed lightly when he said he looked good for his age, briefly and inconspicuously agreeing with a small "Mmhm." She gave an embarrassed smile and a small nod when he offered to show her her room instead. "Please." She waited for him to lock up before following him. "We can...finish the tour another time then?" she asked hopefully, stifling another yawn that had threatened to make itself known.

If that small agreement didn't make Mori's night he didn't know what would. He then gave a smirk and turned around, leading her out of the balcony and closing and locking the door. "Yeah, of course," he said when Lain questioned if they would be doing another tour. "Can't leave you clueless in this place. It's easy to get lost," he joked. It really wasn't. The place was pretty simple. He led her down the hall to a room on the right and pushed it open. "Here you go," he said. "This one is all your for the night. If you need anything I'll be downstairs in the room behind the table in the main entrance," he told her with a nod. "Goodnight."

Lain gave a half smile when Mori said that it's easy to get lost. She was sure he'd been joking. "Thanks," she smiled, stifling another yawn as he opened the door for her. "Mmkay," she said, trying not to sound as sleepy as she felt. That's when she remembered. "O-oh right. June," she called quietly down the hall. She didn't want to wake the children up, but she was sure that the big German Shepard would hear her. And sure enough, after a couple seconds, the brown haired girl heard claws padding on the ground in the direction of the room until the dog was in sight. "Thanks for letting me stay the night here," she smiled at Mori. "Goodnight," she said happily, once June was in the room, closing the door with a small wave at the neko boy.

The next morning, Lain was up early and walking around, looking for any room that was empty and looked large enough to service as a studio for classes. June was still sleeping in the room quietly, and Lain herself was trying to be as quiet as possible. She figured maybe after she found a room, she'd go out and look around for a place to have breakfast at.

Mori went back downstairs once Lain was in her room. He slept almost restlessly because he was still excited but he managed to get a few winks of sleep. When he woke up the next morning he fixed everyone their cereal and then unlocked the doors and made his way to his desk where he sat playing with the pens on his desk. This is what he did most days until a potential candidate came to adopt one of the kids. He waved goodbye as groups of kids started leaving for the academy. "Have a good day," he said as they passed him. He wondered where Lain was.

Lain wandered around the halls until June came and found her. At that, she started towards the entrance so she could take him for a walk. When she saw Mori at the desk, she smiled and gave a wave. "Good morning," she said happily. She hadn't been able to look through all the rooms, but that was okay, because maybe Mori would be able to show her an extra room.

Mori smirked when he saw Lain. "Good morning," he greeted. He would have loved to go outside with her but he had to wait until all the kids were out of the house. Oh well. He rocked back and forth in his chair. "Sleep good," he asked. He smiled and gave a small wave as more kids ran past. "Slow down," he called. "No need to rush." He smirked as the small group laughed and continue to run. They could be so hardheaded at times, but they were adorable so he let them slide.
