The Starlight Festival

"Suki....I'm super bored." Felix was bored out of his misery with nothing to do but lounge around the shop all day. It had been two days since he and Kim had hung out and about. "I don't wanna bother Kim, I spend to much time at his place and I'm distracting him from his work, so...since it's so slow today, I figured I'd come hang with you." He slumped against the counter. "I'm so pathetic when I'm not being a ninja." He craved the adrenaline rush that came with being a shinobi. It was like going through withdrawal, which resulted in him smoking ever so often. Yes, I know, it's a terrible substitute, but what else would he do, swim? Even Kim had stated it was too cold for swimming, and Felix knew that as well. He sighed. "Give me something to do before I die. I don't care if it's cleaning the whole shop, or painting. Just save me from this nightmare called boredom." He slunk to the floor, pulled his knees to his chest, and sat staring at the wall. "Even the wall is mocking me...."

Suki looked at Felix as he started complaining about being bored. It was nearing closing time, as it was five-thirty. She couldn't help but smile. He was adorable. "You know, the festival is still going on. We could go together," she suggested, leaning on the counter and looking at him, her hazel eyes shining lightly. She went over and sat next to him, leaning on him lightly. "The last few days are usually the best. This festival's only a week long, and it'll be over soon. We won't have much more chance to go than tonight," she told him. In addition, the sun would start setting soon. The festival was always more fun at night.

Felix looked at her as she mentioned the festival. She was a sly woman. Women always liked going to festivals because there were many cute things for them to gawk at and say awww. He quickly came to the conclusion that Suki was no different. Then she leaned on him and it proved his point even more. "Alright," he said. "Let's go to the festival. I'll win you a bear or something." Speaking of, that booth owner owed them a prize. Felix looked at the ceiling. "Let us find our way to the festival, where we shall commence in lollygagging."

Suki hadn't really expected him to decline, but she was still happy to hear his answer. She had thought of waiting until six to go, but oh well. "Since it's a festival night, I don't think anyone will mind if I close a little early," she said with a smile, standing up. She leaned down and looked at him. "Well come on then, if you're so bored," she said with a smile. She just wanted to spend time with Felix, outside of the shop of course.

Felix kind of felt bad about not asking Suki to the festival. He should have know better. When she mentioned closing early, he smirked. "And if they do then they'll just have to get over it. I'm bored, and my boredom overrules everything." He stood up when prompted. "I'm coming, I'm coming. Geez, if you ask me, you're doing this more for yourself than me," he said with a raised eyebrow as he followed her out the door with a smile across his face. "What do you want to do first," he asked, glad the air was cool and refreshing once more tonight.

Suki smiled when Felix got up, picking up her violin case, switching the sign on the front of the shop to closed, and locking the door behind them before putting the keys in her kimono. It was usual for her to wear a kimono to work. Suki had more Japanese culture in her than most in the Gears. She strapped her violin case over her back, taking a moment to think. "Well, you did promise me a teddy bear," she joked with a smile. "We'll do whatever you like. You're the bored one," she told him lightly.

"Then I shall win you a teddy bear." He looked at her as he walked. "But to be honest, as long as I'm tagging with you, I'm not going to be bored. So you should have fun." He then walked over to the same booth from before. "I'm going to win her a bear, and today I have a straight aim, got it, Squirrel?" The owner narrowed his eyes as Felix showed up. He remembered him as the drunk from two days ago. "Alright, Weasel." Felix blinked. Did he just call me a weasel? Just who the hell does this guy think he is. Hmph, maybe my aim isn't all that perfect today. He picked up a ball and tossed it to the bottles knocking them down. "Told ya my aim was good today. A bear please, whichever my beautiful wife picks."

Suki smiled when Felix said he'd have fun as long as he was with her. "I was about to say that," she giggled lightly. She looked curiously at Felix. Had he been to this booth before? Oh well. It didn't really matter to her either way. She was at the festival with the one man she'd never thought she'd be able to marry. She nearly blushed at the thought, and did blush a little when Felix said whichever one she wanted. She'd noticed that the guy called Felix a weasel and concluded that he probably had been to this stall before. "Hmm...that one there," she said, pointing to one. It wasn't a huge teddy bear, so it would be easy for her to carry around the festival with her. She sometimes saw huge prizes and never understood why anyone would pick them. Especially not when they planned on staying for a while.

(Felix would have carried it for her.)

Felix looked at Suki when she picked a smaller bear. Such an odd girl. He smiled. He then nodded towards the path that was lined with booths. "You know that guys are supposed to say that line, not girls. Girls are supposed to enjoy the festival." He smiled lightly. "Such a tiny bear. Do you like it?" He asked. He looked ahead, hands in his pants pockets and eyes shinning happily as he went down the road. If he could have every night be this interesting, he would. However, Felix suddenly thought of something. He wasn't going to end this night with the festival. They would watch the stars tonight as well, they were littering the sky after all.

Suki giggled lightly when Felix said that guys were supposed to say that line. She nodded at his question. "Of course I do. You won it for me," she told him with a smile. She had to say it. "And it's cute, see?" she giggled, making it give the smallest dance before giving a small laugh and holding it to her once more.

Felix smiled and shook his head when she made the bear dance. There was the normal. "You are a strange girl Suki." Felix hadn't meant to call her a girl as in a child, but Suki looked so damn young it was hard to believe otherwise. He often wanted to ask her if she was immortal, but he knew she wasn't. She'd have told him, wouldn't she? "So how about some cotton candy to start off the night and-is that Kim?" Felix tilted his head slightly. "That is him, want to go say hi," he asked. He didn't know that Kim was with someone. "Oh, but what I was saying was that we should get some cotton candy to start off the night and then go wherever you want. I'm just a loyal follower tonight and a carrier of many bags."

Suki smiled and gave a small giggle. "Maybe, but I'm your strange girl." She looked down at her bear with a bright smile. "Oh yeah, that is Kim. Sure, let's go say hi. And then we can go get cotton candy," she said with a nod, starting towards Kim. She only then noticed that there was a brown haired man accompanying him around. "Is that...when did he get a boyfriend?" she mumbled curiously. She'd also noticed that Kim wasn't wearing his glasses like usual. Could he even see where he was going? "Kim," she called, waving at him.

Kim blinked and looked around when he heard his name. Jace looked at him. "Something wrong?" Kim shook his head. "No, but I think I just heard someone call me." When Suki called him again, he looked in that direction in grinned. "Oh hey!" he called back, looking to Jace. "Come on, there's a couple people I want you to meet," he said happily, pulling the brown haired man along. "Hi guys," Kim said with a grin, when they were close enough to talk normally.

Blue eyes scanned the lighted night when Suki asked if that was Kim's boyfriend. Even Felix didn't know the answer to that. If Kim had found a boyfriend in the last two days, Felix was giving all the credit to the missing glasses. Speaking of which, "Hello my little mad scientist, I see we're missing out glasses." Felix looked at him curiously. "Where have they gone?" That was a nice way to greet a person. "Oh, and I." Felix smirked when he saw Kim's grin. It was good that he was out and with people. "How've you been," he asked. "Considering that I haven't raided your house in two days." He casually took Suki's hand, no reason behind it at all.

Kim pushed his tongue to the side of his cheek when Felix called him a mad scientist. "I told you I was getting contacts, didn't I?"

At that, Suki smiled. "You got contacts?" She gave a light giggle. "You look good," she said with a nod.

Kim gave an embarrassed smile. "Thanks Suk. Anyways, Jace, this is Suki, my best friend, and Felix, her husband, and second best friend," he chuckled. "Guys, this is Jace."

Jace gave a polite smile. "Nice to meet you." He wasn't usually so polite. Kim found that usually the guy was witty and sarcastic, and even a bit devious, if one wanted to go that far.

Kim smiled. "I met him a couple days ago at the festival," he said with a nod. He wasn't sure if he wanted to say the two of them were together, because he'd only met the guy, but it was starting to look like things were going in that direction. "I've been...feeling better." When Suki questioned if he'd been sick, he gave her a small smile. "Something like that."

Suki blinked when Felix took her hand, but it made her smile. She hadn't expected the action, which was probably why it was so nice. She held his hand, while holding the bear in her other. "Glad you got better then," she said happily.

Felix smirked when Kim said they'd met at the festival. No wonder he's not going through the motions, someones come along to keep his mind off of it. Looks like we've all got Angels. "Nice to meet you," Felix said to Jace. He looked to Kim and then to Suki. "How about we all hang out for a while," he said with a smile. "I have to make sure you're good enough," he said looking to Jace with a small glint in his eye. "As for you Kim, I didn't think you'd go out and get contacts so quickly." He shrugged and led Suki towards the cotton candy. He was getting it more for himself than her.

Kim gave a nod and a smile when Felix suggested they all hang out. He looked to Jace. "You mind?"

The guy gave an almost sly grin when Felix said that he had to make sure he was good enough. "Not at all."

That made Kim chuckle. Oh boy. Did that mean Jace was up to something? "Is this your way of getting back at me for grilling you when we first met?" he asked Felix with a small laugh, following the two along. "It's not like it's a complicated process to get them," he said with a shrug. He was a bit surprised Felix didn't glare at him for that 'second best friend' comment. Surprised, but relieved.

Jace looked at Felix, tilting his head a bit. "You a ninja?" He wasn't sure what it was, something about the guy said ninja though.

(Felix caught it, but he not going to say anything about it. Kim did win fair and square, but Felix is a sly dog.)

Felix shook his head. "Nopes, I'm just looking out for my baby brother is all," Felix responded with a smirk. "It's the brotherly thing to do, right?" He glanced over his shoulder at Kim then looked to Jace. "Yeah, I'm a bit out of work though," he said with a shrug. "Which is the main reason I'm here at the festival. Suki got tired of my complaining." He glanced at the brunette before stopping at the cotton candy booth. Felix's eyes lit up. He didn't have a sweet tooth, but when he was in the mood for sweet stuff, he was an unstoppable force.

Kim blinked. "Baby brother...? I'm no baby," he said with a small 'hmph', looking off to the side. Jace took that chance to poke fun at the blue haired mechanic, poking the guy's cheek. "You're certainly cute enough," he grinned, which caused Kim to blink in surprise. Looked like Jace was getting more comfortable around him. "Don't tease me," Kim huffed, looking off to the side and crossing him arms in embarrassment. Jace only gave a light laugh and looked back to Felix. "There's a good few companies around here that hire out of work ninja for security," he told the silver haired man. "If you're interested, I have a friend," he offered with a shrug.

Suki giggled lightly when Felix said she'd gotten tired of his complaining. She also noticed Felix's eyes light up when they got to the cotton candy stall, and saw an opportunity to have fun. It could wait until later though. "No, we're here because you were bored, and it's the last couple days. I never said anything about getting sick of your complaining," she told him with a smile.

Felix looked at Jace and Kim. He decided then that Jace was good enough. He smiled at Suki and turned his head. "You were thinking it," he said. He then reached into his pocket and pulled out some dollars. "Four cotton candies please." Felix waited as the woman at the booth made their cotton candy. When she handed the four puff balls to him he took them and handed one to Suki, Kim, and Jace. Then without hesitation pulled a piece off of his and popped it into his mouth, where he savored the sweet treat. "And just so you know Kim, since I'm older than you, and you're my only brother, you have no choice but to be the baby. Not to mention that you're acting like one." He looked to Suki. "Where ya wanna go?"

"Can't prove it," Suki replied with a small smile, taking her cotton candy when Felix handed it to her, holding back a laugh when Felix immediately took a piece off his. She pulled a small piece off as well and ate it.

Kim blinked as Felix handed them the cotton candies. "Thanks," he said. He was a bit surprised. Hadn't expected Felix to buy them some. "And I'm not acting like a ba-..." Kim stopped and blinked when he suddenly found a small fluff of cotton candy had been put in his mouth. When he looked to Jace, the guy was grinning playfully, laughing lightly at Kim's reaction. "Are too," Jace said with a chuckle. Kim only spoke once he'd finished the cotton candy that had been so unexpectedly placed in his mouth. "You're not supposed to take his side," he mumbled with a small huff.

Suki gave a light laugh and patted Kim on the back. "It's okay, I'm still here for you," she joked, looking around at Felix's question. "Let's go to the main stage. There's usually something interesting going on around there," she said with a smile.

Felix was too busy chewing on his cotton candy to care what was happening until he heard Kim stop speaking mid-sentence. He glanced over and grinned. This was funny. Jace was like Kim's own Suki. The dango memory was refreshed and he gave a small laugh. "Main stage it is," he said. He walked past Kim. "See, now I have allies two, even if you are the first best friend." He took another chunk from his cotton candy, wondering if he should have bought himself two instead of one. "Oh, Jace, I almost forgot, if you could find me some work I'd very much appreciate it," he said. "Suki will surely be relieved. Kim has my number." Felix glanced at his wife. "I will prove it too you later," he said with a wink.

Kim followed Suki and Felix, with Jace walking right next to him. He glanced at the brown haired man. He was really starting to like this one. Like, really like. Picking a piece of cotton candy off his, Kim decided to get back at Jace. Unfortunately, the reaction was not one Kim had hoped for. Jace merely smiled at Kim once he put the piece of cotton candy in his mouth, which made Kim blush and look off to the side. Damn it.

Jace grinned and nodded when Felix said he'd much appreciate it. "Alright, I'll talk to him for ya," he said with a nod.

Suki walked next to Felix, glancing at Kim and Jace with a smile. They were a cute couple. But Jace had totally jacked her idea. She'd been planning on doing that to Felix later. Oh well, maybe she could still catch him off guard some other way. The brunette woman couldn't help but giggle a little when Felix winked at her. "If you can," she challenged lightly.

Unfortunately, when they got to the main stage, there wasn't much going on. Suki gave a light sigh. "Oh well, maybe it's just too early," she said with a small shrug.

Had it been spoken aloud, Felix would have agreed that the two were a nice couple. On the other hand, Felix was thrilled to be going back to work. His last security job was guarding the Kage and he'd done one hell of a job, minus the loss of Kymin and his friendship with Kana. He looked at the main stage with a small frown. "Well, when there's nothing happening on stage, we take to the skies," he said, pointing to the Ferris Wheel. "Let's ride." Felix marched off happily, taking Suki's bear from her so she could hold his hand as they went. "By the way, challenge accepted," he said with a nod.

(There's always a Ferris Wheel at these things.)

Suki looked to the Ferris Wheel when Felix pointed to it, smiling and taking his hand when he took the bear so that she could hold his hand. "It wasn't a challenge, but okay," she giggled softly. It had totally been a challenge.

Kim looked towards the Ferris Wheel when Felix pointed it out, then leaned over to whisper something in Jace's ear. When he pulled back, Jace had an amused smile on his face and a raised eyebrow. But after a moment, he chuckled. "Yeah, sure." Kim grinned happily and followed after Felix and Suki, stopping in the short line. "We're gonna let you guys get your own cart," he said with a smile, Jace standing next to him with an amused look on his face. He thought it was adorable how Kim got flustered over the smallest things.

(It's the best part.)

Felix smirked. "It was a challenge, I heard it in your voice." Felix then looked to Kim when the guy said they were going to let them have their own cart. Felix didn't think much of it so he shrugged. "Okay." Blue eyes turned to the line as it moved. When a cart came for them, Felix let Suki go first. Then he slid in beside her. "I didn't ask, but you're not afraid of heights are you," he asked as the cart began to move into the air, stopping to let Kim and Jace on before continuing. Felix liked the open air. Being this high up to see everything that was going on. "Too the days I get to spend with you," Felix said, raising the remains of his cotton candy into the air with a smile.
