Souls of the Damned - Page 7 Empty Re: Souls of the Damned

Xen ignored the shouting just as Kana had, nor did he stop walking. His expression remained placid. The black haired man looked to the brown haired woman as she spoke. Was she concerned that she'd get chopped to pieces? If he had a sadistic nerve in his body he'd have been amused by that question. Her choice of wording had changed. Earlier she'd told him to kill anyone that got too close, now she wanted him to destroy them. Madness. "No." He answered, but then elaborated. "I can bend the waves." He'd done it earlier when he'd taken that woman's arm. Although,  had Kana stepped to half an inch to the left while he'd been aiming for his target, it would have been a different story. Xen learned quickly. He'd started giving more detailed answers to Kana, slowly but surely. Deep brown eyes shifted towards the right and out came three ninja, heavily armed. Xen looked to Kana, waiting for her orders. He could destroy them, or she could. He didn't wish to take her kill.

She half wanted to kill those who were coming after them herself. No, she didn't half want to. She wanted to kill them all. But with a wound like this, she would pass out in no time, and there was no guarantee Xen would bring her to safety if she did. She was immortal, but pain was still something that registered, and Kana was all too aware of the types of things mortals would do to try to kill an immortal. She'd had long talks with the healer of the Crested before she'd abandoned ship. Or rather, been run out of the village. She remembered it all too well, even though the public story had been something different than the real story. The public story had been a rumor that Lady Serenity had been behind some of the ambushes that had been happening back then. Not a lot of people who knew Serenity believed the rumors. Kana knew the real reason though. Serenity had been in the village for such a long time that she had amassed a following without even meaning to. Many villagers came to her for gossip and advice, as well as healing. Many of them respected her opinions more than those of the Kage and the council members. The government of the Crested had felt threatened by her, so they'd brought her in for some faux interrogation to try to pin the ambushes on her. In order to appease them, Serenity had left the village, rather than being put in prison. Kana was sure that if Serenity had stayed and been incarcerated, there would have been an uprising against the Crested. Maybe Serenity knew that and had just been trying to save lives. The woman always did have a soft spot for mortals.

Kana glanced behind them as she heard the shouts growing closer. Someone was shouting out orders. Their assailants were no doubt finding the bodies of their comrades by now. They were sure to be unhappy about it. "Xen. When they get close enough, I want you to destroy them. I don't even want them to be recognizable as humans after you're through. Do you understand?" The brown haired woman held a hand over her stomach as she walked, the hatred still burning through her. When she saw the ninja come out of the works, her brown eyed gaze landed on them. It was a shame her lust for destruction had to come about now. This really had been a beautiful village.

It was easy to track them. They were so loud. For a normal person they'd be able to pinpoint them, but Xen was hardly considered human. He knew exactly where they were, knew their every movement. He could 'see' them. Xen looked to Kana as she spoke his name. Those dark brown eyes focused on the brown haired girl. Destroy. The word had been carefully chosen. She wanted him to reduce them to mere meat. "I understand." Xen turned at the same time as Kana when the ninja appeared. He could have gotten up close and personal, but he didn't have a change of clothes, and blood stains were hard to get out. Xen didn't really care about his appearance, but old blood carried a certain stench that he didn't care for.  The male with inky black hair measured the distance between himself and the ninja. He sent the first strike in a mass of invisible waves. The first shinobi went down as though they'd been put through a meat grinder. The others scattered in panic. Xen felt something stir. A bit of excitement maybe? He was simply pleased to have some purpose. To be utilized. He watched the other two move skillfully, avoiding a direct path to him. Xen couldn't keep up with his eyes, but their steps gave them away, but suddenly one vanished as though he had never existed. Xen couldn't hear him anymore. He turned his attention to the straggler. He'd kill him first. No, destroy him.
