The Last Chapter (Part 4?)

‎(HOLY SHIT HE'S GONNA KILL THE KID!!! Serenity would never forgive him!!!)
Serenity nodded lightly at his answer and typed a quick reply back, as if she were answering the question. 'Thanks hun. <3' And with that, she clicked her phone shut and laid it on the floor before starting to heal herself. She hadn't realized it, but she must've lost quite a bit of blood on the way here. That didn't really surprise her. What did surprise her was that the wound was healing faster than normal as she was healing it. She'd say nothing about it, but...that was rather odd. After a few minutes, Serenity, to her own bafflement, found that the wound was fully healed. Again, she neither voiced it nor allowed her face to show her shock. She took her hand from her back and gave Felix a light smile. "I'm done, can I heal you now?" she asked. Of course, she didn't really give him a chance to reply before she started healing him anyways. She wondered if Felix's wounds would heal just as fast as hers did, or if the healing had something to do with her being pregnant.

Felix's blue gaze focused on the blond before him as she clarified that she was done. That was much faster than normal. Maybe she had just gotten better at healing, but she'd been alive nearly 1000 years longer than him, she should have been able to do such skillful healing. Felix didn't let it bother him. It was none of his business and it just meant that he could go back upstairs quicker. Felix said nothing as she started to heal him before he gave her an answer. She was getting a bit too comfortable. He'd agreed to this, but it didn't really change anything. Change, would he have to change for the sake of the kid? Felix desperately needed to consult someone on this matter. Unfortunately there was no one he could speak with on the subject. He didn't have friends, only associates, and as far as he was concerned, his personal life was none of their business. The silver haired Jonin tilted his head to the side, allowing himself to drift off into a very light sleep. Well, he wasn't sleep, more or less thinking, but by closing his eyes, it gave that effect. He was after all exhausted from the battle and the wounds that had come with it. A pity he couldn't deal just as much damage to his opponent.

(btw, what do you think of the forum? I spiffed it up a bit, even though its just the two of us, lol)(and this is such an awkward silence)

Serenity was a bit surprised to see that it hadn't just been her own body that had healed faster, but that her healings were altogether faster. Either way, she made sure that Felix's wound was completely healed, and even so, didn't take s long as it normally would've. When she was finshed, she looked at him only to notice he looked as if he asleeping. She knew he wasn't though. Felix wasn't the type of person to fall asleep with others around, unless said others were asleep too. He didn't like to be vunerable in such a way, even around her. And that thought had just struck her a rather painful blow, but she pushed it aside with the thought that she deserved every bit of it. She gave him a quick once over after she pulled her hand away. "Are you hurt anywhere else?" she asked, sounding like her usual concerned self. She'd lost her smile with that last thought of hers, but she didn't have a sad or upset look on either. In fact, she looked rather tired.

(I like it. And the silence is weird.)

Felix opened his eyes, turning to his head to face her as she asked about any other wounds. Daemon may have dealt some pretty powerful blows, but they'd left only bruises. "No." He said and got up. "You should get some sleep, you look tired." He didn't see why she wouldn't be. After all she had just fought while pregnant and on top of that, she was had just healed the both of them. Felix didn't say anything after that, but he did start for the stairs. He too was tired, but sleep wasn't coming easy tonight. The silver haired ninja just wanted to shower and lay in the bed for a few hours. He'd even considered going onto he room and laying up there for a while. It was going to be cool tonight, and he needed the fresh-air.

(*snickers* The Silence. Is wierd. XD)

Serenity looked at him as he got up, then smiled lightly when he said that she looked tired. "That's cuz I am," she said with a small shrug. Even though she was tired, she wondered if she'd be able to sleep tonight. After all that had happened that day, what with Felix coming back, and them gong out, and Tara, and the whole fight, Serenity had way too much to think about. She didn't even want to mention the baby shower. Serenity got up slowly. She almost felt a little dizzy. Maybe she really had used too much energy today. She had to start limiting how much she used her wind. Her first thought was to take a shower, but she knewthat usually after something big, Felix jumped in the shower. But if he didn't get in, she would. The cool water would clear her mind. Hopefully. Taking a breath, Serenity started up the stairs as well, and headed for her own room, but only closed the door and sat on her bed. She was gonna wait to see if she heard the sound of running water. If she did, she'd wait until he was done and in bed, if she didn't fall asleep first. If not, well then, she was going to take one. Then maybe head up to the roof for a bit and stare at the stars or something while her thoughts drifted.

(Silence is weird.)

Felix cleared the rest of the stairs and looked at the shirt he'd taken out in advance. Reaching for it, he stopped and collapsed onto the bed. The weight of exhausting sweeping over him. He rolled over onto his back. It hadn't even been a few seconds before he'd fallen into a dreamless sleep. Tomorrow he'd wake up wondering what had happened, but then again, somewhere in the back of his mind he knew the reason. His new summoning was a strain. A last resort of the sort and he'd put a lot of hard work into making it what it was today. Regardless, it was nice to just sleep. His brain slowly shutting down, his breathing slowing down. It was almost as if he were going into hibernation. That was his definition of human sleep. A light hibernation. Everything slowed as to not waste energy, only for it to be restored. Yeah, Felix like sleeping. Almost as much as he enjoyed the water. Maybe he'd take a swim tomorrow when Serenity was out with her friend. But for now, sleep was what he craved.

After ten minutes, since Serenity didn't hear running water, she figured Felix went to sleep. He was usually quick about things like that. Getting up, Serenity pulled out a pair of pajamas (consisting of pajama pants and a tank top) and started for the bathroom. She took a cool shower, which knocked the sleep from her mind. But she couldn't help but look at the blood on her hands for a little bit before she finally washed it off. Why was she always attracting so much danger? What was it about her that made it swarm around those she loved, especially when she was with them? She froze at the thought. What if, because of this seemingly neverending pattern, her children were hurt? She uncontiously put a hand on her stomach and Shaira flashed through her mind. At that, she just couldn't stop the tears from coming. It was her fault that Shaira had died, she hadn't been paying close enough attention...

Serenity's shower lasted a good 30 minutes before she calmed down enough to get out. Getting dressed and drying her hair off, she headed immediately for the roof. The pssibility of sleep had been washed away entirely when she'd thought of Shaira. Laying back on the roof, Serenity's gaze went straight to the stars, and one of her hands unintentionally went onto her stomach. The clouds from earlier were gone, but the air was still humid and cool. She didn't realize it, but as she looked up at the stars, her face was unimaginably sad. She had a lot to think about.

Felix slept soundly until about three or so hours later where he suddenly woke up. Well, not suddenly, but he did get up for some odd reason. Nothing ever happened by chance. He'd learned that a while ago. Or maybe he just didn't believe in chance. Regardless, he rolled out of bed and put his shirt on. He left the room without making a sound so that he would not the waking Serenity. He left out the door and walked up the side of the wall to the roof. He was surprised when he found Serenity laying on her back staring at the stars. Felix almost turned away, but instead he put his hands in his pockets and cleared his throat. "Can't sleep?"

Serenity was off in her own little land of thought. She hadn't even noticed how much time had passed by, or that the stars had moved from their seemingly stationary spots in the sky, or that the moon had moved as well. She was just trying to figure things out. She couldn't wait to see Megan tomorrow. She needed someone to talk to about this. And as if someone had walked in on her very thoughts...Serenity jumped lightly when she heard Felix clear his throat, then sat up with a light sigh, shaking her head at his question. "Jeez...you scared me," she said, looking off to the side. "I thought you were asleep." She truly hadn't expected him to come up here, he'd seemed so exhausted earlier.

Felix shook his head with little concern for how he'd shocked her. He sat at the edge of the house, his legs dangling off the side. "I was sleep," he confirmed. "Something woke me up." He probably shouldn't have said that. He didn't want to answer questions. He didn't know what had woken him up, but he was. He'd accepted that much. Should he question her? Ask her why she was up at this time when she should be sleep for her day tomorrow. Felix looked off into the distance. He wanted to make light conversation, but at the same time he didn't. He didn't want to speak with her. Why was she even up here? Felix's jawline tightened.

Serenity blinked and looked at him as he sat down and said that he was asleep, but that something had woken him up. Her first thought was to askif it had been her, but then she remembered that she'd been doing nothing but lying up here the whole time. In fact, she wondered if she should ask him at all what had woken him up. It probably wasn't her business. Serenity sighed lowly, only then realizing how sad she'd looked, and tried to make herself calm again. "I see," was all she said in response to his comment on how something woke him up. Serenity's gaze turned back to the side again. Once more she found herself incapable of looking at him. She was starting to feel guilty all over again. And she wasn't even sure what had changed since earlier when everything seemed to be getting better. The key word there: seemed...

Felix felt it was time to return to the old him. The Felix that felt nothing for anybody. It was best he not get attached to Serenity again. It was his beating heart that kept him alive all these years anyway. And the more attached her became to her, the more she'd rip apart his heart and the more he'd rip apart hers. They were not compatible in the slightest. Those nights where they'd laid on the couch together watching movies and flirting where childish moments. Felix's cold gaze swept over the neighborhood when a random thought came over him. Would the kid have his last name or hers? They weren't married, so it'd probably have hers, but the lie they were keeping up meant it'd have to have his. And, what about him and Serenity? Would they have to fake a marriage. Felix's right brow twitched. Not going to happen, not even in name.... Felix almost got up, but had he, he probably would have slipped off the edge he was in such disbelief at the thought.

Serenity looked at him as he stayed silent, and took a breath, lying back on the roof. She didn't know what to say, if there even was anything to say. Things felt like they'd gone from horribly wrong, to better, to a little better, and right back to bad again. Closing her eyes, Serenity started singing lightly. So lightly actually, that it sounded more like she was humming. It was a slow song, and it sounded a bit like it was in a different language, but it seemed that just made it sound more beautiful.

(Imagine it in Latin or something)

Felix's looked out the corner of his eye as he heard movement and then Serenity decided to start humming. Felix never smiled, ever. And as badly as he wanted to, he could not. He didn't know why, but Serenity's singing affected him. Don't lie to yourself, you know why, a voice told him. And she is not her. Not in the least. They may look alike, but the woman you loved is long since gone. Felix felt a tug at his chest as his heart ached with the memory of Mer. He stood up, his head slightly bowed. He wondered if this was what Serenity wanted. For him to feel pain. This was the exact reason he needed to shut out everyone and everything. Slowly he started to walk across the roof.

Serenity didn't hear Felix's movement, nor did she see it, since she was laying with her eyes closed. The problem was, while she was humming, she couldn't help but remember her little sister. Since they'd lived by themselves at the time, Serenity would always have to sing the younger girl to sleep, since she'd still been afraid of the dark. It had been hard, but she'd gotten through it. But at least she'd had someone who loved her, who truly loved her back then. How would she deal with it this time...?

Felix could have cleared his throat again, since he suspected she was still not aware of his presence. Felix sat so that if she sat up, his back would be to her's. Not physically, but opposite of hers. "I've never heard that one before," he said quietly. "And it's in a different language." He almost turned his neck so he could peer down at her, but stopped himself. "Is that one for me? Or is it about you?" He paused. "Or is it about us?" He paused again. This time longer. "I hate when you sing, it brings back memories. Memories that I'd much rather forget, but it's hard to bury the past forever." He didn't know why he was telling her this, but he was. "Sometimes I wish it'd been different between us. That it wouldn't have to end in such a way. For us to be forced together, unfortunately, we can never last on our own will." He let out a small sigh. "I deny every feeling I've ever had for you, because I feel as if I'm betraying her, but in the process, I'm living through hell." He finally turned to her. "But you're the only one that can bring me back to the surface. Why do you have such an effect on me when no one else can do such a thing?"

Serenity's humming died down when Felix spoke and she opened her eyes only to see that Felix had been sitting behind her. With a light sigh, she sat up, her arms crossed loosely on her legs. She wouldn't stay laying down just so she could look at his back. "I suppose...it would be about us," she said after a moment, in response to his question. She fell silent as he spoke, just listening. Her gaze dropped when he said that he hated it when she sung. After listening to what he said next, she couldn't blame him. She felt the sudden need to cry when he said that he wished things could've been different between them. 'Forced together.' With those two words, the first of Serenity's silent tears fell. She didn't turn to look at Felix, and said nothing. When she heard him turn to face her, she didn't turn. Her heart ached with the knowledge that Felix really had only come back because he'd felt obligated to. "How should I know such a thing...?" she asked quietly, as to hide the sadness in her voice. Seer or not, Serenity hadn't the faintest idea. At this point, she just wanted to curl up and cry. She hadn't turned to face Felix, because she assumed he had to be rather sick of her crying by now. And even when she knew that he was only here on sense of responsibility, she was still worrying about how he felt. Why did she have to be so damn sentimental?

Felix didn't hear her tears, but he had a feeling she was crying, or something of the sort. He slid back just enough so that he could face her. "There they are," he said raising a hand and wiping away her tears. "Don't do this, please." Felix shook his head lightly. "I never beg, but I can't bear to see you cry, not now. Not when I feel this way." Felix leaned forward and lightly kissed her. He moved back enough so he could speak. "I don't fair well with tears. I don't have any left to shed." He wrapped her in a hug. "I we can't get through this without going through trail and error I fear there will be more tears to be shed. And I don't want you to have to suffer in plain sight when I can only do so in the inside." Felix fell silent. He let go of her. "Serenity Mizuraki, you mean a lot to me, don't ever forget that." Felix backed away and stood up. "Goodnight."

(AAWWWWW!!! TALK ABOUT A FERENITY MOMENT!!!) (And just so we don't forget: the music)

Serenity hadn't wanted him to see her crying, not again. So when he moved back and saw her, she only felt more upset, if not a bit ashamed of herself for being so weak. She went to apologize when he said that he couldn't bear to see her cry, but was silenced by a light kiss. Her usual blush from such things was absent from her face and she only looked at him as he said that he had no tears left to shed. When he wrapped her in a hug, she only felt like cring more, but forced herself to remain calm. Even if he was suffering on the inside and not in plain sight, she couldn't bear knowing that he was suffering at all. She hated the thought of him being hurt. And what was worse was knowing that it was her doing. Everything that happened to her loved ones was her fault. It was because they insisted on being around her. And she could do nothing to prevent them from being hurt...Regardless though, Serenity couldn't help but feel a bit better when Felix pulled back, and told him that she meant a lot to him. He couldn't have possibly imagined how much she needed to hear that. She looked at him as he backed away and stood up. She wanted to smile, to let Felix know that she wouldn't cry anymore, but she couldn't even manage that much. "Goodnight," she said in response. Actually, it was probably about time she tried to get some sleep as well....

The Next Morning

To her surprise, Serenity woke up feeling rather refreshed. But she still wasn't feeling anything other than anxiety and sadness. Felix's words the night before had certainly done a bit to lift her spirits, and she felt better knowing that she did still mean something to him. But there were still things she needed clarified. Regardless of how bad she felt, she was putting up another facade, for Felix's sake. He didn't want to see her sad, and he didn't want to see her cry. So, she'd give him that. This morning, she seemed quit a bit happier than the night before. She was making breakfast, but avoided humming in case Felix were to walk in. (I don't feeling like thinking of what she's making)

Felix had gone directly to bed after saying goodnight. He just hoped Serenity would do the same. The next morning when he'd woken up he made his way to the shower and stayed there, letting the water fall against his bare skin. He was remember how last night had played out. He told himself he didn't want to get emotionally attached and yet, he'd kissed her, again. Felix guessed she'd done a better job at detaching herself, because the blush had not shown on her face. Why should I care, he thought. Why should I give a damn about her? He wasn't sure if he could keep fighting this battle. Part of him wanted Serenity, but part of him wanted to be rid of her. If only he could split himself in two and live both lives. He finally turned off the shower and went down stairs dressed in a loose fitting black shirt and a pair of black pants. He could hear her in the kitchen, cooking what smelled like biscuits, eggs, and grits. Felix sat on the stairs, still thinking. Had he meant what he'd said last night? Or had he said it to make her feel better. Possibly the second. Maybe the first. Felix sighed lightly. There isn't enough time in the world to make the right decision.

Serenity was kind of glad that Felix hadn't come downstairs yet. Well, she hadn't heard him come downstairs, anyways. She'd heard the shower running, and it wasn't anymore so...she had to assume he was out in the livingroom just sitting on the stairs, as usual. Once Serenity was done cooking, she took the eggs off the heat and peaked her head out into the living room, looking at Felix with a light smile. "Hungry?" she asked. She only gave a light smile because she knew she couldn't lay it on too thick. If she was all happy g lucky after what had happened last night, it would be much too obvious that she was acting. But if she made it seem as though she was at least getting better, and not all happy all at once...well, that would work.

Was he hungry? No, not at all. He had no appetite. No reason behind it, he just didn't have one. But he didn't want Serenity to have wasted cooking. He simply nodded and got up, hands in his pants pocket and his blue eyes focused on the kitchen ahead of him. He entered and sat down at the table. He looked down at it for a long moment. "Good morning." He said finally. What else was he suppose to say. How are you feeling? Nopes, that wasn't Felix, he didn't care about how others were feeling. But he did need to let her know something. "I'm not going to be here when you get back," he said. "I have to meet with my Captain and then do some other things, it'll be late when I get back."

Serenity smiled when he nodded, going back into the kitchen to make his plate and her own. Once he sat down at the table, she put his plate (and fork of course) in front of him, and sitting down with her own plate after. "Good morning to you too," she said lightly. Ah, she knew this morning would be awkward, but this was...well actually, it was just what she'd expected out of the morning. She blinked and looked at him as he said that he wouldn't be home when she got back. "Okay," she said with a nod after he'd finished speaking. How did he know she wouldn't be home til late? Oh well, the odds of that were slim anyways.

Felix mumbled a thanks and picked up his fork and begin to eat at a slow pace. He felt off. Like this wasn't real. Had he been able to have dreams, he would have claimed this to be one. But he knew it wasn't. Another sigh tried to escape him, but he held it in. What could they talk about? He wasn't in the talking mood, but eating in silence sitting across from one another was weird. That's when a grin broke across his face and he sat back in his chair. "So, have you met Suki's 'new' boyfriend?" He asked. He'd purposely added new because Tara had done so. The grin stayed plastered on his face. He found it amusing. He liked Suki, not in the relationship sense, but she was interesting to him. A shame she was mortal. Maybe he'd find her and Tara during one of their performances.

Serenity blinked and looked at Felix when she heard him shift in his chair, a bit surprised to see him grinning. She couldn't help but smile at his question. "No, I haven't. But I'd like to. He'd have to have been pretty brave to talk to her with Tara hanging around. Or maybe he got lucky and she'd gone off somewhere," she said with a smile and a shrug. It wasn't likely that Tara had gone off somewhere. Those two were damn near inseparable. Yes, Serenity assumed that the guy had talked to Suki first. Suki was much, much too shy to make the first move. As shown by what happened when she'd met Felix the first time.
